Sasori's Frostgrave Thread
« on: November 12, 2015, 05:32:02 AM »
Hi all. I thought I'd share my Wizard and crew for Frostgrave.

I've yet to play a game, but I'm getting rather into it!

Here are some wizards I've completed, there'll be more on the way as I have yet to do oe that resembles an apprentice. I think that'll be next.

More and better pictures here. C&C always welcome, either here or on the bog post.

They look great. Where's the fourth season?

Looking great. Will your warband be recruited from the lead mountain too to continue that old school vibe? Thanks for sharing

Very charming!

Are they by any chance inspired by Lois McMaster Bujold's "The Curse of Chalion" and its sequels?

The seasons theme was entirely accidental. I had already completed the Green lady, or as she now is Summer as a mini for my Bretonnians, before I had even headr of Frostgrave. Then I picked up the Autumn mini from my lead ile, and just painted him in browns to match what seemed to me to be the skins he was wearing. It wasn'y till I put the leaves on his base and sat him beside the Green Lady that the scheme came to mind, and winter just fell into place, as the snow bases theme for Frostgrave is a given.

As to Lois McMaster Bujold's "The Curse of Chalion" and its sequels, this is not a series I am aware of, but I'm going to go look it up right now! :D

I only brought it up because the three characters on display and the fourth you're speaking of painting would correspond roughly (but not completely) with four of the five gods in that fantasy setting. They're very central to the story. You may not be interested in the books and you may not like them if by any chance you do read them, but they're my favourite fantasy novels.

But anyway, yeah, I can definitely see how you landed on that theme with the figures you had at hand. And lovely figures and paintjobs they are, too.
