Horus Heresy AAR
« on: November 24, 2015, 06:37:52 AM »
The fourth planet from the star Skirris was known as Blendethu by the inhabitants.  There were three habitable planets in the system.  Were.

When the Great Crusade caught up to the system one of them was left so irradiated that nothing could live there.  The system's inhabitants had put their differences behind them long ago and formed a small system-wide empire but they didn't stand a chance when the World Eaters came.

Trying to negotiate was futile, so the Collaborative fought.  Blendethu was their last planet and the surface was in the hands of the Space Marines.  Only in the tunnels under the planet did the Collaborative forces remain as the Marines tracked down their command centers one by one.

Two whole companies of World Eaters had been committed to Blendethu, but only one of them was still loyal to the Emperor.  That one wasn't aware of that fact.

The Alien HQ in the tunnels.

The alien commander.  The bug species was not great at fighting but could provide a telepathic link that allowed better coordination among the primate species of the system.

The warriors.

The loyal marines.

The World Eaters turned to Horus.

The Collaborative soldiers move to stop the marine attack.

Two of the Blendethu warriors target the Contemptor, their critical hits nearly destroy the dreadnought.

A loyalist marine with a Plasma gun sneaks up to outflank the Collaborative forces.

And then bursts into the HQ massacring the alien command structure.

Firing on the defenseless leader.

Meanwhile the enemy close combat specialists take the fight to the marines.  Giving his life up valiantly he wounded several marines and took a good bit of their time up in shooting him down.

The Horus followers outflank the Collaborative barricade.

The Contemptor fights back, killing one of his opponents and forcing the other to flee.

Caught in a cross fire the last of the Collaborative warriors falls.

With the native menace dispatched the traitors turn on their loyalist brothers and bolter fire cuts down marines on both sides as the loyalists  realize they are betrayed.

The Traitors make headway against their targets, cutting down marine after marine with few loses.

The marine with the plasma gun finds himself trapped in the enemy command room by the dreadnought.

The combat gets up close and personal as the marines meet each other across the barricade.

But the more numerous traitors now have the advantage.

The loyalists are pushed back on the defensive, without their sergeant they are at a big disadvantage in trying to coordinate their efforts.

The loyalist with the plasma gun suicidally throws open the door firing as he does.  His plasma bursts smash through the hulking dreadnought blasting an arm off and sending the behemoth crashing to the cavern floor.  At the same time the assault cannon rips the marine apart.

Three loyalist World Eaters retreat and are far enough away from the main effort that they escape the carnage.

Looks like a fun game.  Thanks for sharing.
The winning player isn't always the better player.

Looks great

Where did the "collaborative" command centre terrain come from?

The command bunker walls are from armorcast, as are the computer banks.  The central com station is from Antenociti I think.  I don't remember where I got the computer stations but they came in a boxed set.
