Relicblade, my newest project
« on: November 28, 2015, 07:43:26 PM »
Around a week ago I discovered "Relicblade" from "Metal Kings Studio", thanks to this thread:
http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=84586.0

I have to say I was hooked directly, and decided to get me the rules and cards as pdf to check them out.
And I have to say I wasn't disappointed after reading them  :D

Great little skirmish-game, well written rules with a lot of easy to understand examples, complimented by nicely done artwork.
Well worth the money, and highly recommended for people who like small, characterfull skirmish-games.

So, after reading the rules I decided that this will be my new project and I started thinking about what minis to use for it, as I have a big collection allready.

By now, the game features 3 "good" characters as well as 5 "baddies".
The good ones are the "Questing Knight", the "Cleric" and the "Wildelf Druid", the bad ones are the "Berserker Pig", the "Soldier Pig", the "Axe Pig", the "Raider Pig" and the "Shield Pig".

And these are the minis I decided to use for them:
My "Questing Knight"

He's a minor conversion (headswap) of a Confrontation "Paladin of Alahan"

The "Cleric" with his "Spirit Weapon"

Again a Confrontation conversion, a "Griffin Templar" with a  head and weapon-swap

The "Wildelf Druid" and the "Wolf"-form

Elf from Reaper, Wolf from Otherworld

And the "Pigs"  ;)

Confrontation Celts, showing "Shield Pigs", a "Berserker Pig" and a "Axe Pig"

I also made a custom card, because I wanted to field some kind of "Leader Pig", so I made a "Alpha Shield Pig"

So, the plan by now is to play tomorrow my first game, after that I hopefully find the time for painting and terrainbuilding ;)
Will keep you updated on how the project develops.

In the meantime, to get more informations regarding the game, check out the official site:

Thanks

Love the art as well.
For my custom-card, I simply used a existing one which I converted a little bit to suit my needs.
Have to say I showed it also to Sean, the creator of the game, to get his "ok" :)

By the way, will use your lovely "Beehive Huts" to make a small settlement for the "pigs", Chris

That's great, looking forward to seeing what you do with them! I'm working on a larger one at the moment for Alpha HOG.

Me too  ;)
Fingers crossed I soon find the time for painting.

Meanwhile, the first game, which was planned for sunday but was moved to tomorrow evening, will be played.

For now, the line-up for the good guys looks like that:

Knight

Cleric

Druid

The game will be played at 100 points, which is the size for a standart game.

I am looking forward to see your progress on this. It is a brilliant game. I am full of ideas for small scenic terrain boards.

That Questing Knight set-up looks suspiciously much like the one I used yesterday - Certifiably nasty! Riposte is quite powerful!

Same here, and I agree: Looking forward to seeing more of this!

It is, but sadly it hasn't help me to win the game  >:(
Bloody, damn pigs  lol

But have to say, I really enjoyed our first game and looking forward for more games to come.
Yesterday we simply played an all-in battle, without a relic to loot, just to get the rules right, but our next games will have some story to be played.

All in all the rules were easy to get and still quite a lot to learn...love it  :-*

I am full of ideas for small scenic terrain boards.

Me too  :D,
Started allready with some smaller scenary, like a mushroom-field and a smal pig-settlement.

Oh. and here's the line-up of the pigs, by the way:

And 2x

Thats interesting - In our games, the adventurers seemed pretty dominant. But we DID only play two times, so its in no way representative.
I agree: Its great fun, and I really do have a hankering to play some more. I haven't tried playing the Pigs at 100 pts yet.

And after that I really want to try and work on a statcard for a Beholder I am trying to sculpt at the moment. I like the idea of the adventurers fighting some sort of huge boss monster.

Just played one game yet and hope I lost just because of bad luck throwing the dice  lol
Next time I will butcher those pigs  :D

Please share the statcard for the beholder, once done, would like to test him then.
And share a pic of the sculpt as well ;)

I was watching quite often my son playing "Darksouls" and really love the feel and the setting of it, and somehow Relicblades has the same sort of feeling to me.
So, I think I will take that as some reference how "my" Relicblade-games and settings will look like.

Also am I looking forward for next years official expansions.
Saw some nice concept sketch for a kind of "bad" hero which looked quite promising  ;D
