Source for Subway/Underground cars?
« on: December 04, 2015, 03:43:39 PM »
As part of a 28mm Urban Skirmish project that's percolating in my mind, I'm seeking a source for modern light rail cars or something that could be made to act as such. I'm googling like mad, but perhaps the aficionados here might have some suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

Not sure of the exact scale, but this has promise and it's cheap. The listed dimensions look workable if possibly small.

I might buy one at that price just to see what comes...

A more expensive version from Amazon.

A third example from AliBaba reasonably priced

I know I might be blowing my own trumpet here, but i made this for Ainsty Castings a couple of years ago. I always meant to get around to doing a full car.

Have a look at Underground Ernie tube trains by Bachmann (OOP since 2009): http://www.modelrailforum.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1569
They run on standard HO/OO gauge tracks, but are big enough for 28mm - rather basic models that need a bit of conversion...
I still have some intended for that purpose, but not started on them yet. I could spare some...

Here are two monorails I know which can easily be used for a subway:

http://madmechaguy.kong365.com/en-gb/collections/28mm-range/products/28mm-monorail-carriages/8490

I contacted Troll Trader recently, asking how easy it would be to convert that ttcombat monorail car to fit their regular Malifaux train tracks. They said it'd be a decent fit, but that it was such a good idea they're going to make a regular subway version of the train soon!
