Iron Duke British Infantry, UPDATE 12/10/16
« on: December 16, 2015, 07:41:41 PM »
A Christmas present for a mate of mine and the start of a small force for the new colonial rules from Dan Mersey coming out next year. Just for a bit of variety I've painted some of them in dungarees and in khaki cap covers as well as the white cotton material that was prolific at this time.
Ignore the flag its not the one that's going to be used in the finished unit its just something I had knocking about the painting table and I've used it here to show the standard bearer off. And yes I know they are a mixture of centre company and flank company figures but I can live with that lol.
Lovely figures and a treat to paint.

Fine painting.
I have a lot of these figures.
Hope to get painting on them after the New Year.
I also agree with you about mixing rifle and musket figures together,
more poses. I like that.

I must say you,ve done a lovely job on these figures, very " clean " painting style . Having played a cracking game of Lion Rampant last night , I too am eagerly looking forward to the colonial version due out next August. Please post more.

Very nicely done.
There's going to be a colonial version of Lion Rampant next year? I've tried playing Colonial SAGA using the battle boards that were in WSS mag a while back, and no matter what we tried the poor old Brits never managed a victory against the Fuzzies.

Cracking stuff, very clean brushwork, they should make a fine Christmas present ;D

Yeah, it's called The Men That Would Be King and promises to be just as good fun as Lion Rampant  :).

Published by Osprey naturally enough.

Nice paintwork Jeff.

The only thing I'm not sure about with these figures is that the heads look a little outsized to me. The look a wee bit top-heavy :?
But I've only seen pictures. How about in the flesh?

Captain, IMHO they are easily the best sculpts out there.

The heads don't appear to be top heavy at all and I've got rather a of of them. All the regiments thus far in fact minus the Mutineers as I'm waiting for more packs to be released.

They look to be every bit as in proportion as a 28mm mini should be- all features on 28mm miniatures have to be exaggerated or we would all be playing with the equivalent of architectural figurines!   :D ;) :D

Thank you all for the kind comments, they do make the painting worthwhile. Here are some close up shots of the same figures and in the second thread I've put one of the figures in with others from other manufacturers.
I did this so that it gives you some idea of not only the size but also the style of the sculpts.

In the first couple of pictures the manufacturers are Foundry, Westfalia, and two Perrys one metal one plastic. In the second set of figures they are Foundry, Empress, Warlord and Copplestone.
I hope this helps, the smaller bases are pennies and the larger bases are slightly thicker MDF.

Damn it Jeff!! With such lovely paint jobs on display I'm going to have to interrupt the interruption of the interruption of the Hastings Demo painting schedule now and finish some of Neil's Bluecaps!!  lol

Seriously, I am!  :D

Hope that makes sense?  o_o o_o
