Frostgrave: The Dirty Dozen
« on: December 19, 2015, 07:41:10 AM »
Last night we played our 12th Christmas battle on the last club night of the year. I had decided on Frostgrave as the ruleset and was somewhat amazed to see 12 people show up to play.

After significantly thinning down rules and priority sequences we actually managed to utterly complicate a rather uncomplicated game with 12 people and played it within 3 hours. Absolute chaos.

Rules modifications were (amongst other things) card-driven Initiative, no Saving roll against Elelemental Bolt, 5-man warbands, standard Spells for everyone, no treasures but a central mission objective and full speed om the Second Movement action.

Awesome table! The tower in the center ties it together real nicely. Now if only we had room and I had time, we could one da set up an equally nice table.

Oh well, hope springs eternal, right?

Utrecht huh? Well, that is not on the other side of the world for me. Hadn't even noticed you are from the Netherlands.
I may take you up on that offer when my friend and I have our warbands finished. Friday night is a good night for it too!!

I will keep it in mind!

Great looking table, looks like a great time was had by all!

I need to ask (for a non-Frostgrave project) - where did you get the Statue of Liberty ruined head? I want one for a lost world/land of the lost type scenario for Hollow Earth Expedition and it would be great. Please tell me it was bought and not scratch built....

The good news is that it was bought. The bad news is that it was bought a few years ago in the Netherlands. I did some Googling around for you and only found it in Dutch garden centers. Here is one

Actually aquarium stuff is tremendously suitable for wargaming, especially for Fantasy and Sci-Fi. It's durable (as long as you don't drop it) and pre-painted.

The main objection is that it is usually as expensive as "official" wargaming terrain, unless you manage to obtain it at a bargain like in a garage- or other sale.
