It is not perfectly clear to me whether zombies or other undead would count as "monsters" for round 10 or not.
Are monsters defined as being FANTASY? Can the be sci-fi aliens? Even terminators?
May "creatures" be animals - I mean the real kind of - not their fantasy brethren?
Or are creatures meant to be man made (like Frostgrave constructs, beast from pact of wolves, golems, etc.)?

Yeah, an definition bases on the questions above would be very helpful :)

Can it include statues of monsters?

Darrell.

The definition from the rules:

Round 10 – Creatures, Beasts and Monsters
This bonus round covers any Fantasy or Science-Fiction monsters and aliens under the following restrictions:
You may not submit any Orcs or Goblins.
You may not submit any “civilized humanoid” monsters, e.g. Vampires of any kind.
The monsters or aliens must be “feral”, i.e. they may not wear any uniforms, and may not wield any advanced weaponry (i.e. manufactured arms, especially firearms). Rocks, tree branches and big bones are fair game, though.

Sounds pretty clear for me. So:

No zombies or undead!
No terminators!
No "real" animals!
No man-made creatures!

It might be a good idea to read through both LPL-threads as many questions have already been discussed at length, for examle the zombie question.

You´re right on that Michael. I seem to have missed that and had better had a look. Thank you very much for pointing me in the right direction. Although I do not consider ghouls civilised in any way, I accept them being some sort of human/undead and therefore out of the game. Squigs might count as monsters though, I guess - feral, some sort of animal and fantasy creatures...  :D Werewolves should be in the game too, supposedly. However I have none of either.  :'(

No zombies or undead!
[...]
No man-made creatures!

Is this an official ruling? Nothing that's "undead" or "man-made" qualifies, even if it is "creature-like" and decidedly not civilised?

It's not lost on me that human zombies/skeletons, Boris Karloff-style Frankenstein's monsters and clockwork golems wouldn't qualify, but what about things like animated gargoyle statues, creature-like flesh golems sans trappings of civilisation, or the hybrid animal-men of Doctor Moreau as envisioned by West Wind Productions (wearing half-shredded trousers, but otherwise feral)?

The question doesn't relate to me directly, but I am curious.

That's a bit tricky, indeed, but yes, we actually did have in mind sort of feral non-man-made creatures. I wouldn't go so far and try to classify all sorts of creatures/animals being available on the miniatures market, it's not possible, really, and it's not the idea behind the LPL or a bonus round and of course as always there are enough rule gaps and crossovers there. So please, if you are not sure about special range of figures you want to use for this round so just tell us here on the thread or PM me and ask and you'll receive an answer.

To the mentioned ones:

Squigs - okay
Werewolves - okay
animated gargoyle statues - not okay
hybrid-men - not okay

No, they look a bit fantasy to me.

After another PM request and talking to the other LPL moderators we've decided to allow the Red Box Aenglish figures for the Medieval round. Just try to pick up the not-too-fancy and realistic looking ones.

This is awesomely true! I may also be able to jump in again this year... I've already begun my sitting project, planned a few other projects, and am already thinking about terrain.

That would be awesome, Joe! I so enjoyed looking at your entries the year we were both in. AND dreading facing you, each Sunday... lol lol lol

Let's both go for it...!

For round 10, how big is 'big'?  ???

Is it relative to the other figures (twice, three times the size etc ..) or at least size 'x'?

What if the 5 'standard' models would already qualify as 'big'?

Cheers!

It's relative to the other figures. I won't be measuring this but I'd say about twice as big as the other figures.

Big isn't related to 28mm but like mentioned above to the 'standard' models. No matter how 'big' the standard ones are, the bonus big one has to be yet bigger.

My progress so far:
  • 90% done the scratch build/assembly of round 1
  • Done painting my big monster, undercoated and based the five 'little' monsters. I say 'little' because they are all on 50mm bases.

I'm not sure my prioritization is sensible, but I need monsters for D&D anyway :)

thanks
