Kip Kincaid and the Peril of the Mystery Ship
« on: January 15, 2007, 01:11:22 AM »
I playtested Fantastic Worlds at our local game day today. I ran a scenario that uses one board set up, but offers multiple scenario possibilities. This made it possible to run three games in just under 5 hours. I brought three teams ready to run. The Tharks, Space Commander Kip Kincaid and crew, and Lord Sparron and the royal guard. The Tharks proved very popular and showed up in all three games.

First up was a salvage mission featuring Space Commander Kip Kincaid and his crew against a team of Tharks...

Next up we had a rescue/kidnapping mission where Kip and gang tried to rescue the Queen from the aliens...

Finally we had a very tense game where the Tharks and Lord Sparron and the royal guard actually had to team up to escape an overwhelming force of aliens...

...and special thanks to Tom's Orcs who stood in for the advancing alien horde on such short notice.

They were real troopers!

I was playing them as one shot kills, and the idea of the scenario is not to kill them all, but to repair the ship and leave before you get overwhelmed.

Someone at the game suggested using Tyranids as the swarming race. Cool!
