another egyptian project
« on: November 30, 2008, 04:15:08 PM »
Hi to all you lead adventurers !

Iīve spent the last 24 months with workings on a little egyptian scenario. Didnīt knew what itīs going to be some day, iīd fiddled around with one or two ideas and pieces of plaster (which soon began to become more then just some pieces  ::) ).
Now itīs far from being finished but I think I can show it already....

The pictures arenīt that good...I was caught up in a kind of sandstorm  ;)

Greetings

Opa

Awesome. I really, really like that. The gateway is superb. The angles and scale are all just right. The flagstones are excellant too, it all is, but I especially like the gateway and flagstones. Did you make your own moulds? or are they Hirsts or similar?

You say it is not finished so it is going to be one hell of a layout.

I look forward to the next update in 2010 :D ;)

Thats great. But there was no need to go to Egypt, set it up and wait for a sandstorm. We'd have been happy with pictures from your gaming room. lol

Awesome and inspiring. Now I'm completely sold on Hirst Egyptian molds for a lost world campaign.

Iīve spent the last 24 months with workings on a little egyptian scenario.

Well, I've been working on my own egyptian scenario for about as long (Umostly painting minis, though), so I know what you mean  :)

Those Hirst Arts moulds have been tempting me, too, but I stil cannot quite see myself casting up all that plaster... Very nice temple entrance, though.  :o

All buildings indeed are casted with Hirst Art...
I bought me some molds on ebay 3 years ago and started to cast. At this time I did some other things (I got some more molds  ;D ) and casted them casually for example if Iīd set up to much plaster...Iīd never had in mind to build a pyramid like this, because the efford with casting is immense. But after nearly 18 month it resulted in a nice pile of pieces...and so I began with the assembling.

If I had in mind to build such a huge pyramid in a short time I would have tried to find other ways to build it...or I decided to make my own molds. I started a trial in an other project with a self-made mold for pre-assembled pieces, but it wasnīt really succesful; after 3 casts the mold broke  :-[...expensive experience alltogether.

But I like all the little pieces like the sphinx, the hieroglyph-stones and all that...

I try to finish this in 2008 (hohoho  ::)... very ambitious my dear Wuttke...).... ;)

Recently I made some more egyptian-style parts. I finished the second row of sphinxes and added an abandoned quarry to the bottom of the pyramid-plateau. Also I tried to build a little ruin which should be half drowned in the sand to get an extra desert-feeling.
I hope you like it...
