Are they taking an unannounced break part way through the season?
The one thing I don't like about Amazon Prime - otherwise brilliant - is that their comms around scheduling are pretty much non-existent

Don't know how to break this to you, but there is no episode 7. Ep 6, with it's shocker of an ending, was the finale.

From what I've heard, season 5 is the final season (it was always planned to be a five-series arc, right from its initial airing), and should pick up from where S4 ended.

Really? That's very odd. Episode 6 ends with 'to be continued'... That doesn't normally imply 'to be continued in the next series in a year's time'... Plus, the previous seasons have all been eight episodes. Why cut it to six all of a sudden - and with all the episodes of different lengths... All very odd, and no explanation that I can see anywhere.

Yes, when Amazon took it on they commissioned season 3, then seasons 4 and 5 together shortly afterwards. But something strange seems to have happened to how these are getting aired... Ah well, enjoy it while we can I suppose

Well it should be seven - the first episode is actually 1 & 2 stitched together. I admit it was a very abrupt ending.

And actually, that's exactly what it means, otherwise every episode would end with 'To be continued...'    It's just a way of reassuring viewers that there's more to come, and it'll pick up where it left off, unlike the huge time jump between series 2 and 3, for example.
