Lion Rampant in the Holy Land...
« on: January 18, 2016, 05:23:10 PM »
Got the rules today, love 'em already! I've decided to go to the Holy Lands as an excuse to have a go at some palm trees deserty type terrain. My Crusade will take place in 15mm, one question... who makes the best figures for mi' Christian and Muslim Warriors?

???

Hackneyed it may be, but I keep coming back to Essex for my 15mm mediaevals fix.

If it ain't broke, etc.
Proudly not painting Wars of The Roses since... ever

I don't have them myself but I really like the look of the Legio Heroica ones (for late 12th to mid 13th century). They often have sales with quite steep discounts too!

MM, I'm really leaning toward Legio Heroica, very nice looking figures and shield transfers to match...

Why not in 20mm?
Tumbling dice has some lovelly figures either for 1st crusade, 3rd crusade and arabs.
I´m starting 2 armies to play with Saga and Lion Rampant.

Indeed Tumbling Dice doesnt have any pictures on their web site wich is a shame because their figures are really good.
If you want some pictures just let me know and i will send to you, both crusaders and arabs.

Thanks for the nod Engel.

For Crusaders you could look at Essex (who are my favourite) and Donnington who are also very good and include some nice and interesting figures. Black Hat who are quite cheap and include some nice figures in their ranges. Legio Heroica look very nice but I have never seen their figures up close.

I'm not sure how Legio scale up with the other three but the rest should all match quite nicely. Essex also do a very nice carroccio which could be good for your Crusaders to fight over.

Depending on which crusade you could do worse than Khurasan. Their website is down for the holidays but I found these pics

I'd also recommend Legio Heroica. The figures are really nice and very painter-friendly in terms of clarity of the detail. Also Giuseppe is a great guy to deal with.
