So on New Year's Eve Erik and myself on impulse decided that we needed some Myceneans and as it happened it was the last day of Foundrys December sale. So we bought a bunch of lead. It very fortunate arrived yesterday where we had a play date to play some Hail Ceasar.

We divided up the loot and set each other the challenge to get this done as soon as possible. And post the results here to keep each other on our toes.

And so in that spirit I will start by posting a pic of my already assembled host.

So now the ball is on Eriks side.

Love it! My own Achaean Lion Rampant project has been back-burnered, so I'll watch this carefully!

So here are my first couple of miniatures for our Trojan project. I have started with some basic spearmen with the big characteristic oxhide cowered shields. I have tried searching for other kinds of shields, but apparently everybody agrees that this is what Mycenaean shields looked like, so for now so will mine.

Even though I took all the Trojan characters and Dr. Zombie kept the Greeks, I have used my normal skintone instead of looking for something darker. It’s still rather dark, as I usually paint late medieval miniatures with loads of bright contrasting colors.

More to come later this week as I hopefully finish of this 8 man unit of spearmen.

I see your two spearmen and raise with 4 skirmishers.

I am waay out of my comfort zone painting these guys. Normally I paint very gritty. But these I have tried to keep as clean as possible.

Well end of the first week of our Trojan challenge and the first unit of 8 spearmen are ready to take to the fields and defend Troy from the evil Greeks. Fore now we use 8 man unit as it fits Foundrys packs.

Great project! Thank you for the close up views of the shields. I understand how they are painted now and they are a treat.

Very nice Fred  :)
Love the shields Erik  :-*
I've moved it across to the 'ancients' board. Didn't seem quite right in Workbench.

Cheers.

Fair enough. I was unsure where to put it in the first place. It ended up in workbench as it was a wip thread.
