I have been a fan of the post apocalyptic genre since I clocked countless hours in fallout 1. Since those good old days, more fallout games, Mad Max, stalker, metro, the road etc have pulled me in for more post apoc fun. And now, the time has finally come to move into post apoc tabletop gaming.

As I love the general theme of post apocalypse more than any particular universe, I am not restricting myself to only one canon universe. So this blog will feature gangs and miniatures inspired (or ripped straight out of) fallout, mad max, stalker, metro, resident evil, walking dead and more - all smashed into the same post apocalyptic wasteland.

Raider Warband "The Reavers"

In the wasteland, there are those that have food, shelter, water, gasoline.. and then there are those who take from the ones who have. Raiders! A staple of the post apoc genre, the sadistic raiders are not as well armed as most other warbands, but they make up for it in numbers and savage drug-fueled close combat prowess. These raiders are from the "Reaver" clan, one of many raider bands terrorizing the wasteland. Recently, rumours that someone is uniting the raiders of the wastelands have surfaced. The wastelanders can only hope that the rumours are false. Miniatures from em4 future skirmish range except for the guy with the chainsaw and the raider with an assault rifle. Both are from USX modern day heroes.

Some more raiders; the chain-axe guy will probably migrate to become part of a hillbilly cannibal raider family when I make more cannibals. He is made from a good mix of GW bits: militia, wytch, kroot, cadian, marauder horsemen.
The other four guys are EM4 future skirmish range. Very characterful minis, I hope they will make more, as many of the best are sold out everywhere.

And some raider light firesupport. Two em4 scavengers with some light ranged weaponry, SMG and rifle.
The guy in the middle is another cannibal made from IG, dark eldar, kroot and marauder bits.

The rabble of the wastelands are united by strength. Their leader, Humongous, rules the Reavers with an iron fist.

This band of psychopats, sadists and junkies run wild in the wastelands, raiding outposts and caravans, taking loot and slaves. Lacking in ranged and heavy equipment, they cannot challenge larger settlements, but with every raid, they grow stronger, and more miscreants of the wastelands find their way to join up with the great Humongous.

Humongous is a reaper fantasy figure orginally, given a diving helmet for that classic "giant post-apoc man" look and a heavy construction tool as a weapon. The weapon is made from a couple of chainswords and an IG autocannon.
I`ve tried NMM on these guys as well, but it is very hard, especially on smaller surfaces, and very especially on gold. Not sure I can be bothered to keep up the NMM on guys without much armor. On the guys with armor, I like the effect, if only because the look is closer to how metal is shown in the fallout games.

With the ruleset I have the most faith in at the moment, "This is not a test", this is a 400pts starting warband with a heavy melee focus.

Raider warband: The Reavers
Warlord "Humongous", chainblade, scrap armor
Raider Champion "Ironbar", shotgun
Broiler "Pyro", flamer
Wrecker "Cannibal Joe", chain-axe, revolver
Wrecker "jockstrap", 2x light weapon
Wrecker "Teddy", 2x light weapon
Wrecker "Geronimo", 2x light weapon
Wrecker "Poka Hunta", 2x light weapon
Wrecker "Motorhead", heavy weapon
Raider "Topknot", assault rifle

The Brotherhood of Steel

Power Armor is extremely sought after in the wastelands, and only one faction has access to more than the very rare example, the brotherhood of steel. Mostly pre-occupied with collecting old world relics for their own obscure purposes, very militaristic and willing to kill for a shiny pre-fall object, they are not particularly well liked in the wastelands. But when you have gatling lasers, super slegdes and fully functional power armor, you probably dont care too much. These guys are my first attempts at NMM armor. I am happy enough with the results to give it a go for the rest of my well-armored characters. The miniatures are from brother Vinni with a super slegde made from various GW bits.

Few in number, the brotherhood are still a force to be recconed with. With access to substantial numbers of working power armor suits and with an array of high powered weaponry, they make their mark on the wastelands. The brotherhood sends expeditions from their secret vaults into the settlements of the fallen world in search of more arcane technologic artifacts. Both raiders and settlers have fallen victim to brotherhood expeditions when unfortunate enough to get between them and their arcane price.

The zealousness of their search has created animosity against them in the wastelands. Merchants still trade with them, taking advantage of their technologic provess, but a brotherhood member can seldom walk in safety, as many gangs have bounties on brotherhood members. As such, any brotherhood expedition will have heavily armed knights to guard against both the critters and the humans of the wastelands.

With two gatling-laser armed knights and a super slegde wielding knight, the brotherhood is ready to make their might felt.

The OSL is not super awesome, but I felt it was good enough. I need to add some softer parts of the brotherhood as well, thinking some scouts and scribes to round out the group. These 3 guys are pretty much 400pts by themselves, and 3 guys is a bit small for a warband. You need some mooks to go scavenge while the big guys mow down the opposition

The wastelanders from New Hope

Lead by "The Chosen One", a resourceful stranger equipped with power armor  (BoS member doing double duty until the BoS crew are complete), a group of militia from New Hope venture out in the wastelands to secure their outposts and caravans from raider and critter attacks.

The close combat experts of the outfit. Alice has shown extreme skill with the knife from a young age and prefers stalking her prey silently, waiting for a perfect opportunity to end their miserable existence with her knives. The other close combat expert is a wasteland wanderer, known as "Gladiator", he thrives in the push, shove and gore of close combat. When not joining the militia for adventure in the wastelands, he participates in blood sports in New Hope and surrounding settlements. Alice is from USX modern day heroes, while the Gladiator is made from a mix of GW bits: marauder, knight, kroot, and greenstuff.

The other four members of this militia band are:
Slick, a low-life gangster renting out himself and his sawn-off as an escort in the wastelands. He is a reaper bones figure.
Frank, a veteran caravanner with a scoped rifle. He is a zombicide survivor miniature.
Vault Wendy wandered into New Hope one day, wearing a vault suit with "113" on the back and strapped with weapons. As a pretty blonde, she had to gain respect the hard way, by killing the first two sleazebags who tried something stupid. Now she is a valued member of the city militia, even if she will not tell where or what this Vault 113 is. Miniature is from USX modern day heroes.
Kane "The Champ" Savage is a militia lieutenant. A veteran caravanner and blood sport enthusiast, he can handle himself in both melee and a firefight. He is the current champion of the cage in New Hope, and wears the champion belt at all times. Miniature is a mix of GW bits: Marauder, IG command and a third party assault rifle.

This group is a 400pts Caravanner warband from "This is not a test"

Caravanner Warband "The Companions":
Trade Master "Chosen One", power armor, heavy weapon
Caravanner Lieutenant "Kane the Champ Savage", assault rifle, heavy weapon
Caravan Guard "Frank", sniper rifle, light weapon
Caravanner "Alice", 2x light weapon
Caravanner "Vault Wendy", 2x pistol, light weapon
Caravanner "Slick", shotgun
Brute "Gladiator", light weapon, heavymetal  armor, primitive shield

Unknown Military Stalkers

The last group to enter the wastelands are a mysterious group of military stalkers with unknown insignia, heavy hardware and professional tactics. With fully functional hazmat suits and modern assault rifles, these guys can search and scavenge areas where normal wastelanders can`t go for old world relics. The group operates with a shoot first, shoot after policy towards the barbarians of the wastelands (everyone not in their group). The miniatures are hasslefree hazmat troopers.

Great collection!

What are the ruined plastic buildings? Are they from Mars attacks?

Those aren't Mars Attacks buildings, but I too would love to know who makes them!

Those are Tehnolog (the company that makes robogear( modular buildings. They show up in some of their sets, but they are available  periodically from a russian ebay seller who I used to buy mecha from.  They have a similar clip attachment system as Hexagon, cyberclix, castlecraft, etc, though I don't know about compatibility.

Seems a bit expensive at $16 based on the picture (which seems to be made of 1 sprue), but you get 5 of the sprues, so it's not bad. You can also buy a "fat pack" of 60 sprues for $120.

I've bought a few things from this dealer in the past including the sci-fi tanks and was pleased with what I got.

Also seems to be a viable source for the "chemical plant" kits that are hard to find in now in the west.

Thanks for the nice comments guys :D

@Deltadog: The gladiator is one of my favorites as well. He certainly has the most conversion work of the gang, and his shield was my first freehand attempt that I really like.

@zizi666: Ha! As awesome as a matching board would be, terrain is unfortunately the weakest part of my post apoc collection. Will probably be a while before that is fixed, making terrain is not my favorite pasttime  :D

Eilif and Redmao has it right on the ruins, they are from the russian ebayer. The options are a bit limited after a while, so I wouldn`t recommend the mega-pack, but for some nice, quick terrain that fits in several settings, a few sprues are worth it.

Very interesting.  I don't suppose you know the size of the floor tile squares on the terrain sprue, do you?
