Sorry about the title.. couldn't handle my megalomniac ego.
My name is Thorbjørn and I play miniature wargames. I've had the diagnosis for about 13 years, but it has only been severe for the past 4 or so.
I normally only play games with painted miniatures, but it varies a lot how much effort I put into the minis. If it's a mass-mini army game (think WFB or FOG) I don't do as much as in little skirmish games, where I like to spend hours painting one figure.
In real life I'm currently "adding" to my exam from my youth so I can get to take the education I want, as my original grades lack a lot!
I have a swedish wife and 2 (+1 in the making) little brats who take up all of my miniature time.
I am into any and all games.. almost I think. It sounds good at least. Instead of mumbling about all the games I have bought stuff for, a list of the "current focus" would perhaps be better:
World War II: I usually play with the I Ain't Been Shot, Mum! rules by Too Fat Lardies for company level land engagements. It's a great game with random card activation, really easy rules and it's governed by the proverb "Playing the period, not the rules". Another special feature is that you deploy your forces on "blinds" - markers that doesn't tell anything to the opponent except that there might be enemy troops where the marker is.
I use FOW/Peter Pig/Old Glory 15mm figures for this game. And H&R 6mm some times.
For air games I use Bag The Hun - also by the lardies. It features the same basic elements of all lardie games: card activation and blinds. I use 1/600 micro tumbling dice models for it, and it's not much of a looker, but fun to play.
For naval games I use Victory at Sea. It's ok I think. The dog fight rules are rubbish though.
1/3000 miniatures from Skytrex for this one.
Cthulhu/Pulp:I haven't played a lot of this yet, and the games I
have played have been with .45. The rules are ok I think, but sometimes it just takes to long.
Horror:I'm a huge fan of horror gaming.. current game is Spinespur, which I find to be an interesting concept and rules. The miniatures are nice too!
Vietnam:I have a ton of 20mm vietnam figures... And I've only ever played very few games. Some with FNG (bad rules I think) and some with Charlie don't Surf, which were something completely else.
I hope to play more vietnam eventually...
Other "periods" are Napolenic/American Civil War in 6mm and some Fall-out stuff in 28mm... been working on all three the past 2 years without finishing enought to do much.
I also have warmachine, hordes, 40.000, Lord of The Rings, warhammer and all the specialist games (a LOT of epic..). But I don't find all that much joy in competative games and apparantly I'm one of the few who can manage using these games for anything else. So I don't play them a lot.
