The part about filling the gaps was been overreaden by me sry.

As for the gate, I just think it's not detailed enough. I might add some more pronounced framework and maybe stencil some writing on to it. Maybe that will take the frown away every time I look at it.

My suggestion for that Gate:

I think it looks to Medieval atm.

I think it might be your knockers. And possibly the hinges; they may well have been black finished rather than silver, though I can see why an undertaker would want to make a statement. You might find that just painting the hinges black changes the look and visual focus of the gates.

The build itself is your usual stunning work!

Phnar, phnar! :D

Let's face it, there is no way to say that and not get a 'Carry On' response!

Have you tried a cast iron gate instead of the current wooden one?

It's lovely and I don't think it needs changing though I do like the gate change ideas

This is possibly my favourite of your builds, it seems to have a certain balance.  As for the gate I think it is the hinges, having never seen any of that design in real life they appear anachronistic.  Swap them for something more trad. and they will not draw the eye.  The railings on top work for me too not to mention they would be a deterrent for any local Burke & Hares.

Beautifully done! It's been too long since I've seen one of your builds. I'm jealous of the people who get to play at your table

I think it looks MARVELOUS!!! I love the details like the bricked in window and the iron down pipes....the hinges and metal work over the top are a great idea too...but I'd probably paint them black...
Cheers,
Carl

Wonderful stuff, mate.
 :-* :-*

Good to see you back at it, this is my favourite of your builds too.
All of the above suggestions have merit and I am sure that you have decided by now what you are going to do.

Just to throw a spanner in the works: How about a couple of potted plants somewhere, maybe by the door of the Undertaker's?
I think that would add a nice bit of colour whilst still being realistic.
 :D

Knockers?
He did once tell me he lives at 'Big Boob Mansions', so you may not be too off the mark with that one, Steve.

Thanks all very much for the advice, and Deltadog for the polished image. Nice work!

I am sure that you have decided by now what you are going to do.

God no!  lol

I think I'm going to follow Malamute's idea (he might need a sit down and smelling salts after reading that) and have the gates open . I'm definitely going to add spikes as many of you have suggested and add hinges. I'll see how it looks then.

they would be a deterrent for any local Burke & Hares.

You've given me an idea an no you wont need to paint or build anything for me  lol

Paul, funny you should mention plant pots, I did have some foliage in mind.

Anyway, enough of all that scratch-building chat, lets get back to the subject of knockers! Wahey!

That's really lovely
what are the dimensions on it?

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.
