Nicely done!  :-*

I done painted me eight more

Bringing me up to 20, or a single unit for TSatF.
Or four shy of a pair of units for TMWWBK*

Back to Northstar for a few more shortly...

A few more pictures over on t'Blog

Jolly nice they are too!!! If you are at Partizan in May, Andy MacTaggart and I are bringing our full NW Frontier collection over to do another pre-release 'participation demo' of TMWWBK...  :D

Thanks Andy.
I'm hoping to be there, helping James out with Fort Vaux, so I'll definitely drop by for a look - very much looking forward to Tim Wubbuk.

I'm planning a couple of units of Sikhs next (I love a man with a big turban) to give me four British units (which seems like a good start)

What do you recommend for Pathans?
I'm thinking three units with rifles, one with muskets and a couple with swords.
Is that
a) historically plausible
b) a sensible force for TMWWBK?
Or should I have more (or fewer) of any of those groups?
(I'm thinking a bag each of Old Glory for the rifles and swords then use the Artizan ones for command and a few extra figures).

For my big games I have 2 groups of Ghazi swordsmen, 2 groups of swordsmen, 4 groups of riflemen and one of muskets, but with upgrades/downgrades, that comes to lots of points!!! More than the 24 you need for a 1 on 1 game. I figure that balance of swords vs guns is fine for most games set between the years  1880 and 1900. I think for 24 pts I had 2 rifle, 1 musket and 2 sword armed...

Perfect, thanks Andy.

Sounds like two bags of OG and some assorted Artizan blisters will be just the ticket.
:)

Though if the Perry ones come out soon...

I've done a step-by-step guide for painting these over on my blog.
Partly for the benefit of anyone wanting to copy my crude approach, but mostly so I can remember what I did.

Anyway, if you want to know how to go from here:

Via here:

To here:

Then follow the fourteen simple steps here:

Thanks for the 'how to guide' TWD. I'm going to use your method on the Blue Moon 15 millis I shall be getting for my Afghan Rampant units. Although my Sowjers of the Widda' In Windsor will be much more valuable than yorn... I'm mounting 'em on five pence pieces!

;)

These are looking very good indeed. I enjoyed the step by step, I do get tired of magazine articles that just show how to paint one model with 4 highlights over two hours. I am amused you have added a Tango01 caveat to your blog😀

Plucky Brits obviously need some hordes of hairy Burpas sorry, Pathans to fight.
So I painted some Old Glory Afghans ready to sneak up on 'em

I have the OG Pathans, and I'm frankly mystified by your verdict on their quality, especially when set alongside the very telling photographic evidence you yourself have provided. Crude and lacking in detail? The photos show clearly just how detailed they are, and how much character they have. I have some in front of me right now; every detail is crisply and cleanly sculpted - buckles are a good gauge, and they really stand out boldly - undercuts are deep, faces are sharply defined, very characterful and unmistakably Asiatic, and poses are active and dynamic. The only drawbacks I see with them when compared to other brands are a certain squareness of rifle butts, and the lack of tails on turbans (a deficiency that's due to OG's production system, in which heads and bodies are sculpted separately).
