Other will certainly disagree but I believe SS armored car crews wore basic panzer uniforms - black wrap around for winter and camoflage HBT denim for summer.  SS insignia would have been piped in yellow for reconaissance. Dismounted crews would carry MP40 or pistols, or the vehicle MG34.  A number of companies make dismounted tank crew figs.

Black or even grey wraps would be the most common, but often camouflaged items were worn.
To give you just an idea, here's a picture of painted (20mm) models from the AB site

I'll back up what JohnnyTodd said... I'm no expert but the armoured car crews I've seen appear to be dressed as Panzer troops (Afrika Corps and Cold weather excepting obviously).

They could also wear reed green overalls.  These could also be made from early smock camo colours, but not the late war "spotty" or "peas pattern" materials. Waffen-SS Uniforms In Color Photographs: Europa Militaria Series #6 has some good colour plates towards the end with panzer truppen (some featuring a very young me incidentally)
They were all drawn to the Keep; the soldiers who brought death; the father and daughter fighting for life; the people who have always feared it; and the one man who knows its secret....

While a few vehicles remained dark grey or had elements of grey in their camo by 1944 these were either lorries or cars used in rear areas or in areas of occupation away from the fighting such as Norway.  Therefore you should go with a base colour of yellow sand.  This could be covered with a variety of patterns brushed or sprayed on with either soft edge of hard edge patterns.  These patterns could be red brown or green or a combination of both - German camo was very varied even within units.

As for markings, number plates would be present although the balkan cross was not always present.  Again the form of the cross could be varied - black with white edges or just the white edges were common.

Other markings would be the unit badge and the tactical sign (motorised reconnaissance unit for example) which could be present on either the front of the vehicle or front mudguards.  These would also appear on the rear of the vehicle too in similar positions.

The "Panzer Colours" series of books would be worth investing in if you intend to paint more vehicles.

Hope this helps.

You're welcome.  A good example of camo and markings is shown below on this Russian replica of an SDKFZ 222:
