I wonder if there will come some new stuff from GuyB. Here and in the BlackOp-FB-Group it is becoming very quiet.

One thing which threw me and still confuses me is which of the sample stats already include things like armor and abilities and which don't. Making that clear would help. I think we played this all wrong last time and gave people a bad experience of the near invulnerable assault teams - with us having to roll a 1 to be hurt by anything vs. normal needing 5's to save.

Seemed very unrealistic in the game we had which is different than what I hear reading the web so I assume we did it wrong somehow.

Guy tells me he might be able to do something shortly and a V2 may in the offing and not through Osprey.

Black Ops seems to be one of Ospreys "fire and forget" rule books. No further support, any support like FAQ etc. is entirely up to the author and had to be done in his spare time.

To my understanding the author was hired to write the book and that´s it. I think he moved on to other projects long ago, but who knows....

It´s a shame because Black Ops is a very good rules set and we play it a lot in our club.

I've had a similar issue with trying to find a QRS for Broken Legions by Osprey.
Eventually got a response from the author on Twitter stating "Not at present, sorry. Osprey were meant to be putting one together for the website, but it's slipped through the cracks. It's on my ever-growing list of jobs...". So it does sound like any post sales support is best effort provided by the author.

Ongoing support (or lack of it) seems to be all from the author with very little input from Osprey. Not really Osprey's fault - they are the publisher not the rules authors after all. As mentions some are fire and forget type games and other seem to be more ongoing projects. Just some like Black Ops are not the focus of the authors as they are busy vs say IHMN and other games are continuing projects for the authors.

However, like any rules you can make them your own easily - in some ways the ones with no author continuing support allow you to do that even more. :)

Indeed, I'd say 'take the money and run' has been the author ethos in some cases, especially when you look at the IHMN team and Dan 'Rampant' Mersey, where post-publication support is very evident from both author and publisher.

Osprey seem more 'write it and we'll print it', which is not always a good thing of course.
