Late german infantry and vehicles [28mm]
« on: December 17, 2008, 11:02:12 PM »
Hello!

My first post...I present to you part of my "WWII german army" (german collection really). The miniatures are from Artizan and the vehicles are from BAM, NZWM, Tamiya and Chieftain model.

I'm polishing my style of painting 28mm, especially the faces!. I've tryed several techniques, and actually I use one that convinces me: shadows marked, but not sharp. In these miniatures still use a old style (too dark).

What is your opinion? How I can improve?

-Infantry:

-Vehicles:

-Scenes:

Thnx, cyu!.

PD: sorry for my english!.
PD2: the Sdkfz 222 turret is wrong in the photos!, now is ok ^^.

Most excellent, especially the uniforms. FOr my taste, the vehicles could do with a little more depth, i.e. add some more shadows around rivets and moving hatches, but that is strictly my personal opinion. The camouflage is superbly subtle.

They are really nice. However I don't mixed heer (splinter camo) and waffen-ss (Planetree/Oak leaves camo) pattern in the same unit.

The figures look great to me, good clean, crisp painting. Very nice. :)

Sterling work (and they are even better up close!)

Hello!

Thanks you for the comments :), these encourage me to paint more ^^.

FOr my taste, the vehicles could do with a little more depth, i.e. add some more shadows around rivets and moving hatches, but that is strictly my personal opinion. The camouflage is superbly subtle.

Many people have said me that!. In these vehicles I use a MIG washes, and only paint the nooks. So, in my last vehicles, I've tryed recreate more dirt and wear....the result is this (15mm tanks):

I've used trementine + oils in several films / layers...really, I think that is toooooo dirt, dont like me!. Any sugerence?, may be use trementine more diluted?

However I don't mixed heer (splinter camo) and waffen-ss (Planetree/Oak leaves camo) pattern in the same unit.

Uops!, big mistake, I dont know that!. I decided use splinter cammo to give more variety to the unit :S. I note for next units.

PS: We use PS not PD in English - that that is the only tiny mistake I've seen - I probably make more mistakes in every post I make, so stop worrying, already! ;)

Oki thnx!, really....sometimes I use a google translator :P

Cyu!

As said, I like the contrasts to be a bit stronger. But only in very deep recesses/panel lines, or around hatches, which move often and suffer from paint chipping.

As for the 15mm tanks, those are very nice, but all weathering in that scale quickly looks very harsh.

Can't help you with your painting. I think the figures are flawless.

Thanks for sharing your collection.

Photos are excellent as well!
