The game formerly known as "Dust"...
« on: 09 March 2016, 07:10:50 AM »
...is now "Paolo Parente’s Dust 1947". And Paolo's new partner (one assumes for more than GAMA trade show floor space) is Ninja Division of Relic Knights fame.

That's a bit too succinct to work as a basis for speculation about what direction the game will take but I suppose we might know more after GAMA.

I don't play Dust, but am a follower of the game for years, the setting looks great and for what I've seen, the miniatures look detailed and have a very cool weird war feel.
I am looking forward to hearing more about this restart of the game.

It's a real kick in the can than a bunch of the images contain models that were funded by the Operation Babylon KS campaign. Models that I am still owed.

I'm sure people will be in for this, but I'll be staying away.

Love the models, but I use my own rules to run games with them since I don't like the boardgame feel of the, well...boardgame! I hope they can continue producing stuff.
Play the game, not the players!

If I am correct, they make a skirmish variant of the rules, this is also something I prefer as a wargamer.
You have Dust tactics the boardgame, Dust battlefield the skirmish game and dust warfare the large scale wargame.

I'm not sure about Dust Tactics Battlefield being the skirmish option, actually. It has much simpler (and reasonably solid, give a take a few weird terrain related issues that may have been FAQed ages ago) rules than Dust Warfare so it should work with larger forces. The rulebook may say something about upper limits thereof of course, can't recall that ATM.

No idea what of the old DT/DTB/DW trichotomy this newly branded version will feature tho. Could be anything from "names may change but the faces stay the same" to a complete revamp for all I know.

On the youtube channel of thedicetower there is an interview from the gama tradeshow ( you need to watch part 3), they show the new axis starter and say the new 2.5 rulebook will be a free download and physical copy in april.

Seems like Ninja Division is not in partnership with Dust and posted something about it on their site.

I guess they saw how the game jumped from publisher to publisher and they don't want to get mixed up with it.

Well the OP's link and the link I quoted seem to be at odds or am I just not reading them correctly?
Seems very strange.

Strictly speaking, Paolo's site's news item doesn't explicitly say that the partnership with ND extended to more than GAMA floor space. Looks like it didn't but I wasn't the only one who though it a possible interpretation.

Wait, have they even fulfilled the previous kickstarter yet ...or were people just given their money back?

They have done the first two waves and that has been it so far. I think that they are still in the process of taking Battlefront to court.

The new rules have been intermittently available for free download since yesterday. Intermittently, because apparently the demand has overshot the ability to provide at various places o_o

This seems to be the best place to hunt for the latest working mirror of the latest version (there are at least 2 already):

The rules may be evolving but I'm not as sure about the miniatures. But then again, I suppose there has been a lack underboob bikini bimbos with bazookas in the minis line tho so... o_o
