The Battle of Venus
« on: December 20, 2008, 07:38:26 PM »
Following on with the general theme of 'Venus' that appears of has enveloped this forum recently, We decided to set our latest game there. The British are facing the Prussians in the Venusian swamp (sorry for lack of OOB, I don't have the lists with me). We used almost all our models for this game.

- British Battle Line;

- Prussian Battle Line;

- British Battle Strider HMLS 'Saint George';

- Battle Commences;

- The British Advance. Infantry to the left, Guns to the right and Ironclads to the rear;

- After a rapid assult on the British Infantry, Prussian cavalry find themselves outgunned;

- A very blurry shot mid-battle. The Prussian Infantry Column can be clearly seen in the centre, prepairing to assault the British Ironclads. To the left, the British begin to crest the hill under heavy Prussian fire;

- Prussian Krupp&Heinbacker Automatic Fighting Dress (Armoured Infantry) storm the hill, supported by the SMLS 'Dassen Foot-Boot';

- However, the British are more than ready for the assault, as the Redcoats dig in;

- The Prussian infantry mob an Ironclad, with predictable results (reported 96% casualty rate);

- The HMLS 'Saint George', steamrolling its way through the Prussian Ironclads;

- However, the combined fire of the surviving Prussian units is enough to fell the beast;

A great game, with tactical victory going to the British, but a moral victory going to the Prussians with the destruction of the 'George'.

The terrain and board is mine, and around 95% of the models belong to 'Mr.Marx'. The rules used were 'Land Ironclads, by Wessex games. If you don't have this rule set, go out and buy it now...

It would appear Venus is rapidly becoming the latest bauble in the Imperial Crown, albiet a rather large and impressive one. But in such an era as this, who can tell?
God save the Queen!

I told you so. You damned fools.
