Crimean Russian Cavalry Question.
« on: March 21, 2016, 11:57:22 PM »
I need some Crimean War help from the group once again....

Aside from the Foundry Figures which show a "Front Rank Russian Hussar Lancer", I have found no other reference to the front rank of Russian Hussar Regiments being armed with a lance.  Could someone provide any clarity on this issue?

Thanks

Russian Hussar Regiments were first issued lances to equip the front ranks in 1812-13. They quickly discarded the slung pelisse as it impeeded use of the lance. However, I've no idea if that practice continued.

I couldn't find any reference to Hussars carrying lances during the Crimean war...
The Dragoons are described as having lance armed squadrons ... Used to cover the flanks of the regiment (I will probably add these to the Great War Miniatures range when I find time  :?)

You might find this site usefull...

Yes, please, Aly. Some non-Cossack early WWI Russian cavalry would be most appreciated. Oh, you mean for your Crimean range...  ;)
