I really liked it when I was about 14. Somehow, I doubt it will stand the test of time. At the same time there was "Bring 'Em Back Alive" with Bruce Boxleitner in a similar vein (and would probably fare as well to the modern viewer.) I am rather partial to the two Richard Chamberlain Allain Quartermain films. A bit of a comedy twist on Indianna Jones, but fun.

You may already have these covered, but just in case:

Any of the Indiana Jones films (the first is by FAR the best)
The Mummy--possibly the best of them all
Skycaptain of Tomorrow--CGI heavy, but still good
Casablanca--one of the best films ever; no creatures or strange science, of course, but with Nazis, Agents, Double-Agents, Bogey, Bergman, Greenstreet, Lorre and that run-down city itself, how can you go wrong?
There is a French film (title escapes me now) about a girl investigating something or other--but it has dinosaurs, mummies, old museums...It's great and kids love it, if that's a consideration
Romancing the Stone--a little dated, but still fun
The Rocketeer--lots of fun
The High Road to China--a Tom Selleck film from the 80s set in the "Back of the Beyond"; it's terrific entertainment, with great sets, costumes, acting--well worth checking out!

So there are a few. I'll try and think of the name of the French film and add it later. Enjoy the ride!

Excellent list! I've got them all.  ;)

I'd also suggest checking out the some of the old 1920-1940 serials. Go to the Pulp Alley (Serials of Extraordinary Adventure) channel on youtube and you can watch for days......

Spy Smasher
Captain Midnight
The Phantom
Green Hornet
Terry and the Pirates
Drums of Fu Manchu
Jungle Girl
The Spider's Web
The Crimson Ghost
Fighting Devil Dogs
Gang Busters
Secret Agent X9
The Shadow Strikes
Great Alaskan Mystery - a personal fave!
the list goes on and on......

HAVE FUN

"Tales of the Gold Monkey" is good, worth the money and time. It's light, but fun. That series inspired Pulp virtuoso sculptor Bob Murch to sculpt some figures. And that Grumman Goose and the Monkey Bar are great modern Pulp icons. Must watch.

"Bring 'em Back Alive" 1982/1983 also looks good, or at least the first episode, which is the only one that I've been able to watch. Here's the imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0083391/

Youtube is a gold mine of old pulp serials and movies. I enjoyed that Crimson Ghost, which is on D Phipps' excellent list above. Also note that the 1950's Sheena TV series, or at least some of it, can be viewed on Youtube.

"Tarzan and His Mate" 1934 - perhaps the best Tarzan movie of all time.

"The Golden Mistress" 1954 - treasure hunt in and near Haiti (before that country was totally deforested), German version 1955. Check out the imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0047037/

"Heat of the Sun" 1998 - 6 hour TV mini-series from BBC Mystery, features a tough detective and an aviatrix based on the historical Beryl Markham. Must watch. Here's the imdb page: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0138966/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

"The African Queen"  1951 (Duh!)

"The Lost World" 2001

"The Lost City" 1935 - truly bizarre! The imdb page is here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0026652/

I'm sure that I could bore you to death with more jungle pulp, but I'll stop there.
Sailors have more fun!

I'll second the recommendations for Tintin (one of my favourite characters, and the film is great) and Big Trouble (an excellent flick)!

Even better: read the original Tintin comics!

I'll add "Five Came Back" and "Back from Eternity" two versions of the same story, both great.  I don't think anyone has mentioned "King Kong", so I will.  Both the original 1933 version and the most recent with Jack Black and Naomi Watt.  I'll also include cable TV, "Boardwalk Empire" and "Peaky Blinders", are both great.

Have to add The Shadow with Alec Baldwin. It was my introduction to the character and my first step into a much larger Pulp world.
