Victrix Plans Early Imperial Romans

From the Victrix facebook page:

Quote
The New ancient range we are starting at Victrix will be Early Imperial Romans. This is a period we have wanted to work on since we started Victrix in 2008 so we are very excited about this and look forward to showing more updates over the coming months.....

The plan is to do a set of Roman Legionaries in attacking active poses and a set in marching/advancing poses for those who like their Romans active and those who like a more linear look.

There will be pilum and sword arm options, 2 helmet variants plus segmented arm armour variants and some leg options with greaves. Some separate crests and oval shields are being looked at to make Praetorians. We will see if we can fit these on the frame or whether it has to be an extra set?

We also want to put a few nice bits in there such as arms holding torches and severed heads, this adds a nice touch for those doing skirmish games and as you know we always like to give the customer extras and not just the bare minimum.

There will be full plastic command frames and a mounted General figure will be produced.

Other sets in the planning are Auxiliary infantry attacking and advancing, archers, cavalry and Scorpions (Possibly with an ox cart to mount it on)

This looks very nice. It'll look ridiculously great when the Auxilia arrive.
I've been thinking of building a full Auxilia Cohort and this might just be it  8)

That´s a good welcome.
I just hope the miniatures arent static as the first boxes of greeks.
I just ordered some celtiberians and i´m very curious about them.

I assume Victrix, must look at the various forums and have seen just how many negative comments there have been concerning the small size of the original Warlord Roman Legionaries.I have a feeling this will be a very popular range and bite into the Warlord's slice of the market.

I totally agree with you Johnp4000, I would love to do some Romans of this era but was never happy with the availabe a bit smallish versions.

I do hope for some cavalry and Victrix cavalry bases!

As for the poses Rui, I think the later Greek sets are already better.

cheers Thomas

Yes cavalry is welcome - many gamers have been demanding cavalry, and they're right since having a good range of good quality plastic infantry without cavalry is a bit ???

The Iberian horsemen images look great, so the Numidians. If I were them I would have released one kit suitable for hellenistic/magna grecia cavalry 3-2bc which could be customised to light or heavy. Maybe they would. They did say they would do Republican Roman equites, that would be cool.

Victrix don't rush things, and the output gets better and better. It's a formula that works well, in my opinion.

The early imperial Romans look good too.

Wow, so we have run out of periods and troop types already and Victrix are forced to double up on these Romans. Happened quicker than I thought it would...

Thomas indeed the last greeks are much bettter.
Since i´m mad about conversions i´m always hoping for action poses on the figures. o_o

Like Corso says cavalry is much welcome. :)

I hope some day a company with mad guys in it will do some roman street gangs/armed civilians and unarmed civilians. lol
It would be great. :D

Are you suggesting the warlord plastics are good enough quality for Victrix  to shun such a major army in plastic?

My glass is half full.  This is great news.

Got my attention! Looks great!

Celts and Germans for them to fight against would be great too.
