Last Sunday we had a fun game with Lord&Servants rules by Dadi e Piombo.
Gondorian infantry supported by a few Rohirrim were facing Mordor and Isengard orcs
There were three table objectives and controlling them contributed to the enemy breaking point.
Gondorian troops were mostly veteran well armed troops and the Rohirrim were expert horse archers.
The Uruk were the tougher orcs with the ferocious rule and heavy armor, while the standard orcs benefited from the warband rule allowing better mobility.
The main force of gondorian infantry quickly advanced to face the theat among the castle ruins, while the rohirrim supported by one unit with mixed weapons moved on the outside flank
Soon the battle was in full swing. The Rohirrims had managed to eliminate the uruk crossbowmen but were now in a tough spot facing pikes.
Inside the ruins while one unit of gondorian swordsmen defended an objective another unit was trying to hold a force of uruks and mordor orcs
The rules are interesting in that units can be fluid, they can break into smaller subrgoups and even models can act individually, and this happens very often once the melee starts and formations get disorganized
Towards the end, despite the uruks being able to rout the Rohan horsemen, the toll taken by missile fire mede it difficult for them to gather strength to push the gondorian troops away from the outer objective.. while inside the ruins gondorian veterans managed to hold just long enough for the forces of evil to break. but it was a very close call..
Fun game !
