First Perry Plastic Afghans (for 2nd Anglo-Afghan War) .....

.... well, sort of!

An idea that occurred to me a couple of days ago and the sprues arrived today. Two Afghan warriors each converted from a Perry Plastic ACW Zouaves command sprue (plus a Frostgrave Cultist shield).

A bit more tidying up to do but that's the first pass of GS done.

Not my area of knowledge - I just looked at some images on line - but what do folks think? Are they an adequate representation? If they work I think I might buy a box of the Zoauves for a decent sized skirmish force to set against the British.

I've tidied them up a bit now and given the swordsman a revolver (pinched from Perry WW2 Brits) that is tucked into the sash around his Waist.

Forgot to say, I was pondering turbans and remembered you'd put one on a Perry plastic WotR conversion, which led me directly to the Perry Zouaves and thus this side-project was born.

And the first two are finished.

I've decided to limit this to a strictly skirmish game centred on survivors (so far) of the 66th trying to rearguard or escape&evade after Maidwan. I was also mindful that a full box of Zouaves might eat progressing my GoT project for BLAM16. I've therefore ordered a mere 2 sprues from a bits seller to give me 12, to which I might add the 12 Perry metal Afghans when they are released.

Seeing as I want the 66th to be outnumbered, I shall probably need only 1 or 2 sprues of the Brits. A cheap and cheerful project, for sure.

I beards are awesome. Without seeing the first pics I couldn't tell that these were made from ACW Zouaves!

Thanks folks: they really aren't too difficult to do and are a lot of fun. I'll probably be a bit more adventurous with a few of them.

The squinty Brits won't be getting eyes but I do like the wide-eyed look for the charging Afghans!
