28mm puppets?
« on: April 26, 2016, 09:32:55 AM »
Does any one have any recommendations for 28mm puppet miniatures? I'm looking at Relics and Puppet wars at the moment, trying to find what else would fit with them. I am looking to build/convert a full faction of puppet models for Malifaux's Guild.

I'm happy to convert stuff, I have some experience scratch building so I don't mind if I have to build a few weapons but I'd like to know what options are out there before I start investing.

I was going to suggest Malifaux halfway through the second sentence. Had a quick look without success.

Is there a particular style you're after? There's the clockwork zombies from Eureka Miniatures:

Not sure if they are suitable, but the Disturbia range from Monolith has some Twisted Toys in it:

Rag dolls with buttons and stitches mostly. Rackham have a couple of suitable models in their Death familiars. A couple in their Dwarves of Mid Nor as well but they come as a package and a bit expensive for some little voodoo dolls.

I just ordered Relic's Bitanan starter set http://www.beastsofwar.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Relics-Britanan-Starter-Set.jpg

That will give me 2 mounted guild guards, a few guard riflemen and I'll figure out what the leader fits with later. A blister of dogs means I'm well on the way to having a playable McGabe list.

Not sure if they are suitable, but the Disturbia range from Monolith has some Twisted Toys in it:

I saw those and the 2nd one looks great but I can't find where he would fit. He doesn't really suit any Malifaux characters. I had considered expanding the army a little to include the teddy bears some how but I'm a bit iffy there.

I used to be with it, but then they changed what it was. Now what I'm with isn't it anymore and what is it seems weird and scary.

Dark Arts Studios do a mannequin familiar (I've got one, pretty good, and on sale right now too): http://www.dark-art-studios.co.uk/dark-art-studios_shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_38_39&products_id=140

You could look at the 'Collodi' stuff from Wyrd Miniatures.

Recall there are some in Rackham's Confrontation range...one on stilts IIRC. There are two in my Tekumel range but they are very small being scale 6" in height or so.
