A few more Striking Scorpions...feeling the urge to strip and repaint the Exarchs (not happy with how the alternate scheme turned out), but I may be lazy enough to leave them.

I really like that colour scheme on the Scorpions.

Same - looking good. I still have an old pot of scorpion green. It's used when I want to be offensive.

My original Guardian Squad from high school was Scorpion Green.

CAUTION: Incoming nostalgic memory!

The year is 1995...I'm 14 and have been collecting miniatures for about four years.  I have finally decided I like Space Elves and I've spent my allowance and some money from working to buy my first squad of Eldar Guardians. I've painstakingly painted them to a poor level and I'm excited to hear about a "bring and battle" event at the GW store in the local mall (one of only three retail locations in the US at that time I believe).  It's simple, everyone brings one unit - the employee will divide the players and we play a game of 40K!  Woohoo!

I place my minis on the board, proudly.  I look, happy to see I have one of the only painted units on the board.  I move up my first turn, waiting to shoot down some evil Orks with my Shuriken Catapults.  A nearby teammate shoots a lascannon into an Ork Buggy.  It careens out of control, right into my Guardians and blows up, killing several of them.  My unit fails leadershp and runs off the table before I do a single thing.

I go home in a huff, and paint black shoulder pads on the guardians.  The rest of their 40K career they run or march straight into the enemy, heedless of caution.  They are tainted.

Thanks, I'm really enjoying going absolutely ham on these armies.  While not "gigantic" by some collectors scales, I'm at a comfortable 4500-6000 points in each army, with a small queue of stuff left to do.

I'm struggling with the Eldar because their kits are so few and far between (not a ton of aftermarket options, tough to find some old metals, a lot of resin kits which are terrible, etc.).  The Chaos Space Marines are vast and easy to enjoy because of the large number of Forgeworld codex options which gives me a lot of neat ideas to try.  The comparitively small number of Eldar Forgeworld options are huge resin tanks I won't buy or some rather lackluster other options.

I prefer my Eldar army, but the Chaos force is allowing me to enjoy kit-bashing and making something a bit more unique.

Well, they are Eldar so they're rather long lived (particularly since 80% of this army is from the early 90's).  :D

The Wandering Sons get some more armour for the table.  A fourth Rhino-Russ chassis is complete, and I scratch-built (with resin aftermarket and some 3D parts and plasticard) an obnoxiously expensive super tank called the Typhon Siege Tank.

Love the design of those Rhino-russ APCs. The siege tank is pretty cool too.

Thanks.  The siege gun is huge and expensive and unlikely to see much tabletop time...but I just wanted to build it. :D
