New series of Penny Dreadful.
« on: May 04, 2016, 10:42:37 PM »
Just watched the 1st episode. This series looks very promising with a few introductions of old horror friends too.
Ive seen things you people wouldn't believe - Roy Batty.

I've got the notification from Netflix about the new season too. Very much looking forward to start watching it coming weekend!

The first episode of the season was very good.  It established where all the characters are, including "The Monster" in some frozen waste as per the novel.  This season seems very focused on Vanessa Ives.

I disagree, the last season was all her, they seem to be delving into the Chandler/Frankenstein back story now.

"New" is the third, right? Got about half way through the first, and my attention kind of wavered.

Just discovered it this evening. Mmmm, I do like good shot composition (and if Timothy Dalton asked me out on a date...).

Is this worth picking up from the start? I've seen it advertised but never actually tried to sit down and watch it from the beginning.

I'm enjoying Penny Dreadful more the Game of Thrones. Some good stuff here and hell of a lot of good actors in it.

Most definitely, each series has it's own nemesis.

I think PD compares extremely well to GoT. While GoT just endlessly spins out some VERY storyline archetypes while pretending to be innovative fantasy PD at the same time uses a few VERY classic literary archetypes to create a very surprising storyline.

But perhaps not for the less contemplative watchers, as the story is in no hurry to unfold at times.

For me, GoT bored me out of my mind within 5 episodes and I am still watching PD.....

Looks like the Mummy is going to be in the next series, he had a mention in the last episode.

I read today that this will be the last season.  Is that true?

It seems to be the case.  The season finale ended with "The End," so it appeared to be more of a series finale.
