Two wonderful entries but, well, it has all been said above......
 :-* :-* :-*

Alex: I recognise all of those figures except for the big 'egg' and the Magus having his leg 'humped' by the familiar.
Where are they from?

Tricky, both of them are incredibly done. A head-to-head race, but the old school tyranid win it by a bit.

Alex, what kind of scenery did you use here? All very impressive, especially the central piece. And what is at the bottom, the ground looks kind of wet or shiny at the left figures' bases?  ???

Michael, the central piece is  from Epicast, bought about 15 years and meanwhile not more available as far as I know. And I think Epicast is out business as well. I'm glad I was finally able to paint the lovely piece.

The wet ground is the Army Painter Ink, I've spent half of bottle for this scene trying to achieve an oily effect. Therefore I had to make that photo quick before it dried out :)

The rest of scenery is a wild mix of everything, Armorcast, Pegasus, Pardulon etc.

For the "egg" see above :) The magus was a part of a private commission, not longer available.

Your work has an awesome depth and color Prof.  The photography skill displayed in your entries is just as amazing.

Fantastic work Uncle Mike.  Bad luck on the draw.

The more I look at the Space Hulk scene the more I like it. It brings me back to the old White Dwarf back covers that I used to like so much that always had some spectacular diorama. Uncle Mike would have won on many other days with his composition and deserves plaudits too. Well done both.

Uncle Mike did a great job here...but I have to admit, that I am a worshipper of the Four-armed Emperor since strange aeons, and this one is pretty damn well done, too!

It seems impossible to turn out winner when facing Professor Witchheimer.

I agree on your associacion with WD  backpage but lets be fair, WD scenes were newer that good and polished..

And models had green bases for most of the time :>

True, but when you were 15 and the LAF didn't exist you didn't know these things! I remember one the the Perrys did for a Brettonian setting that was very polished. I found it recently and still liked it. The Prof''s stuff is probably better though.

Two of the better entrants this time around (imo obviously!), shame I had to choose one over the other.
