As the good captain said, not tbe way I envisaged Lord Tywin but he is magnificent and has all the power and gold of Castley Rock oozing from him. I love the goldem whiskers, which are actually part of his description in the book, and the fabulous armour on the house again displays the wealth of the Lannisters. A superb top baddie!!  :)

How about house Reed, the Cranogmen, all you would have to do is change the spears to tridents and they  would look great especially as they are supposed to be smaller than other Northerners, these figures would fit in really well lime that.

That Tywin is a lovely figure! I can totally see why you made that little chap your Tywin!

Not at all how I pictured him, but I enjoy seeing other people's vision of the series, and you've certainly done the sculpt justice with that paintjob.  :)

I am liking the use of a foot MAA bearing the flag alongside the CiC. :D
For what it's worth I'm thinking of using tridents and partisans culled from GW Mordor orcs for my Manderly contingent. They'd do equally well for Crannogmen's fishing and frog spears I reckon... ;)

I might start by having a closer look at my Ghost Archipelago plastic crew. Only problem is everything delivered at once, and not I have the rest of the Bruegelburg KS as well as 40 islanders, some boats, dinosaurs and other monsters from GA calling for my attention.

Photograph! Waiting through the Gothenburg winter for priming weather, but I thought I'd take a WIP image anyway. These need matt varnish and bases to be done, maybe eyes if I feel up to it.
Lady Lyanna Stark leads a patrol of Glover, Mormont, Cerwyn and hill clan men. I enjoyed the variety of arms and armor on these.

It's alive! Been playing other games, so this has been a little on the back burner but I do have some progress to show you.

A couple of pages back I showed some mounted archers, and they inspired me to get some more cavalry. A box of Perry Light Cavalry and a box of Gripping Beast Dark Age cavalry turned up just before I moved house in March, and last week I sat down and kitbashed some models. I ended up making two units of eight, one of melee and one of horse archers. Parts from Perry, Gripping Beast, Fireforge, North Star and Bad Squiddo. The lone metal head is from Red Box.

The models are quite varied in look, but I have something of a plan. Some of the models, seen below, come from Northern Houses, with the weapons and helmets of professional soldiers:

Some represent more southern Houses, White Harbor or Riverlands men, in modern city bought clothes with slightly fancier equipment:

And finally some are far Northern hunters and highlanders, clansmen on shaggy horses who have been pressed into service to forage and skirmish:

What do you think?

Got my Oathmark Human boxes the other day, and decided it was time to revive this project. When I started out I had SAGA in mind, but now I have a proper historical army for SAGA age of vikings, and more Starks than SAGA really supports. So what to do? Well, there is this Oathmark thing coming out that should be good.

So I've started rebasing and adding to my units to make a mass battle force from the Starks. Below are my first kitbashes using Oathmark plastics, including some Elf spear arms, combined with the usual Perry and Gripping Beast bits and pices. Really like the Oathmark humans, a little short next to Perry but full of character.

The Oathmark and Perry kitbashes above will be mixed with Claymore Castings metals to make larger units. While working on the spearmen, I've also had a few other models on the go. This Claymore French Man at Arms got a Conquest archer head, and to me the model just screams Ned Stark. I gave him a grey-streaked beard as per the book, and just love how this turned out. What do you think?
