who made them?

The figures are Old Glory.  Although Old Glory is sometimes a mixed bag as far as quality, I think their Seminoles are some of the best figures they have done.  They have separate heads so that a decent mix of poses can be made up.  Along with a varied paint scheme for each, it gives quite the look.

Young Ensign Egbert Filaroot, had joined the US Revenue Cutter Service as a final move to try to put off his father's yammering about getting a job and making a way for himself in the real world.  Long pampered by overly protective, wealthy parents, the thought of working for a living hardly seemed attractive to the spoiled, overbearing, know-it-all son of a Massachusetts merchant.  He love the idea of wearing an elaborate uniform, but the thought of going into the military seemed far too taxing, so he opted instead for the Cutter Service which he hoped would be less draining of his energy, which he preferred to save for whiskey and wenching.

The Seminole were up in arms again, Filaroot was given the task of escorting the sutler at Moss Oaks Point away from his establishment prior to being burned out by the tribe.  Seconded in rank on the mission was Chief Petty Officer Roland "Rollie" Ratherburg.  A 20 year veteran of the US Navy, Ratherburg had enlisted in the Cutter Service in the hopes of final putting down roots, rather than touring the globe.  He despised the spoiled brat he was serving under, but he knew that if he and the others were to survive the youngster's first mission, he would have to keep the little rich kid out of trouble....

The Seminole have already struck at the sutler's post.

"Ensign"  Ratherford interjected, "...if you don't mind me making a suggestion, it may be more advantageous to make less noise out here in the swamps.  You never know what you may stir up."  the cutrer service arrives on the scene chasing the Seminole from the immediate area.

Again raising his voice to call out to any possible inhabitants in the cabin, Filaroot finds that the cabin is empty...
"Ratherburg, I'm going to look around a bit to see if I can located anyone belonging to the cabin."
"Very well sir,  But keep in mind....try to be quiet."

"Pish Posh!  Don't be an old woman."

Moments later....

"Senior Petty Officer!  Where are you!  Filaroot yells (again at the top of his lungs).

"Right here sir....but you REALLY need to be more quiet!"

"He never learns does he Chief Petty Officer?  Should we tell him?"

"Nah....let's just go back to the boats.  Maybe the next Ensign they send out won't be such a pain in the arse."

Nice stuff. What figs are you using for the US?

The US naval figures are Old Glory Mexican-American War figures (The US Revenue Cutter Service dressed no differently than the US Navy as far as I can determine).  The US Infantry and Volunteers are the figures from the Texas War of Independence line of figures.  The US deserters from that line are in the appropriate uniforms for the 2nd Seminole War.  The New Orleans Greys are in the earlier 1825 "pinwheel" caps, which I am using for uniformed volunteer units.

The nice thing about the US figures are that they are already painted for earlier projects (the US navy for the Mexican=American Mosquito Fleet actions, the US deserters and the New Orleans Greys for the Texas War of Independence).  The only figures I am in need of painting are the Seminoles (which is why their bases are not yet finished in the photos).  They have been a lot of fun due to the colorful, variety of clothing and equipment.  When added to warpaint, they remind me armed circus clowns!

Attached is a close up of the New Orleans Greys fighting at the Alamo.

This weekend will see the first, 2nd Seminole War game with the guys....Here are a couple nice figures from the old Conquest 500 Nations line, now carried by Warlord Games.  Tecumseh and Tuko-See-Mathla.
I apologize for the poor photo quality.
