Question to the form.... What 3025 do these plastics represent and in what combinations? Is there a generaly accepted equivalence on this forum or in the Battletech community?

Familiar picture, those painted ones! I think I did those years ago.  :)

These are the cheap but excellent EM4 mechs. I built them to represent something like (LtR) a Wasp, a Rifleman, a Daishi, a Longbow and another Wasp.

Just a question about the plastic. What type of plastic is it? Is it bendy or hard?

Not sure what sort it is, but it's a fairly hard plastic, that takes cutting and glueing well. No problems with the plastic here.

That last conversion with the torso turned around, I have done the exact same thing on mine.  :o

Those are conversions I found online- I've worked with these mechs before , bought them when they were new A long time ago.but at the time thought them generic- when I began looking at the legs I realized they were some sort of loose Battletech clones. Then I realized the weapon in the right hand was meant to be a ppc.

Obviously it's an open market kit meant to represent generic mechs- but it definitely appears to me that they are meant to fill the hole of the lawsuit mechs.

I was hoping to find a agreement on what layouts represent what mecha. (I also posted while a little tired)- I can see they are meant to be generic.... But I hold that they are the "missing mechs". The warhammer and griffin have missile pods on their sholder- I should find a way to convert those.

@ Question- Steel Warriors by EM4- very affordable.

Have you considered the Battletech starter box?  It's quite cheap when on retail discount for a good heap of 3025 mechs.

Wally's 3025 Battletech Project Log (Part 2, Double Core Set!)
« Reply #11 on: July 16, 2016, 03:47:53 PM »

A friend picked up one new starter set and one old one... And my review?

Day/Night

Catalyst should apologize for the older set, the newer sculpts are gorgeous in comparison and have all the advantages of the older metal-

I've been playing a few test games solo and I got to say- the Alpha Strike Ruleset is rough; it's all the lessons learned in the last 20 years; but fails to address some of the core issues of battletech being... Well.... Battletech.

Their suggested point range of 250-450 is also too high for what the rule sets strengths... It seems to play brilliantly at the 100 to 150 mark and suspect most of their play testing was done around here.

I can not give high enough marks to the core rulebook: but I have a complaint about the compendium. The compendium includes all the quarks and pilot abilities that should have been in the core rules- included this game suddenly feels like X-Wing and is better for it. (No question)

By converting the unit stats directly from the core rulebook: there is the added problem of relying on pure formula to balance the units... But a lower points cap and varied terrain meditates the power of single units.

Long story short/ this has screwed my plans. Instead of two lists of 12 for two players I am looking at making a series of highly flavored lances and printing off equipment cards.

This could easily be an exciting black hole to fall down with the right group of players.

I can post pictures later today- the difference is shameful... Really, the newer sculpts are that much better.

If they cared, they would re-release battletech under a more heavily modified alpha strike rule set, publish cards and pilots like in X-Wing and focus on a single era producing a nice range of units and plastic terrain across the spectrum.

This half hearted attempt running off a golden heart is sad.

If some bigger name were to produce a fully fledged x-wing but mecha I would probably be all over that. Make the mecha modular for a guaranteed sale.  :D

Exactly my thought- this genre only needs the correct presentation to shine. These recasts with an XWing stile paint job would disappear off shelves if sold like X-Wing booster packs.

Makes me want to play some more mechwarrior.

Actually- it goes to show how inovative  X-Wing was-
