I demand an unmasked version using the head from the Crooked Dice figure. Perhaps two, clerical robes and Syn.

I do recall it vaguely after seeing your pointers but very very dimly and I wouldn't have been able to tell you anything about it at all.  Does seem to be right up your street for sure.  Carry on.

Good stuff.

I only know the Hammer film.  (Which I recently watched again, thanks to the Freeview "Horror" channel.)

I'll look into the novels now.

Should be a good thread with plenty of impressive figures.   :)

Which Crooked Dice head are you referring to?

The Hammer film is pretty faithful to the book, but does not have Dr Syn use the Scarecrow costume.
It's worth watching the Disney film if you an find it. I picked it up on Amazon for £4.00. It's very Disney, he doesn't kill anyone, but it's proper swashbuckling stuff lol

If anyone is interested BBC Radio4Extra recently reran the first of the three BBC radio series' - the majority of which is still (just about) available to listen to - episode 2 for another hour, up to episode 10 which is available for another nine days. Rather good listening. Link below to episode 2, can cycle onwards from there to the rest.

A goodlie project indeed. Well done Nicholas.

I feel a pub crawl of Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch coming on, to give some first hand experience of the vibe. It is a distinctly weird corner of the country. A little bit 'other'. From Rye in the borderlands of coastal Sussex, via the moonscape of Dungeness, up into Kent at Lydd, and onto the Cinque Ports.
But the saltmarsh lamb is to die for.
Kipling's 'The Smugglers' Song' has the East Sussex setting too. Similar vibe.

Some 25 odd years ago, I did something like that. Our group got well and truly lost, driving in circles, with a friend convinced that the old black-on-white road signs were still misdirected 'from the war'.  :)

Very cool conversions Nick and an interesting story/characters, which I had never heard of.

Those scarecrows really freak me out!  o_o
