I look forward to watching the progress on this.

The only down side I can see is a balaclava like that scarecrow fella has making an appearance in the real world!

Nice!

I look forward to seeing this project expand, as I grew up down that way, and even have a small print of this piece of art squirrelled away somewhere that I won in a competition in Dymchurch as a child:

I wonder if my mother still has the books (although it might be safer if she doesn't, for the sake of the number of projects I have ongoing!)

Oo, I like this.  :D

What are you thinking of using for rules?

Fantastic miniature! Love the BBC radio series and often contemplated doing a project around it. Did an articles on Dr syn last year on the blog.
Thanks for sharing

Brilliant - I remember reading the Russell Thorndyke novels back to back one summer holiday, on the beaches in Purbeck, another smuggler's haunt. Moonfleet and all that.
The figures look great, but what will you be using for the Revenue Men and the Bow Street runners?

Foundry SYW British dragons for the Kings men, Galloping Major sailors and various armed civilian types from Westwind, Redoubt and Galloping Major.

Either Dr De'Aths Little Lead Adventures or Legends of the High Seas with some modification, I want to keep them simple. One thing it needs to have is a fear or courage roll when anyone confronts the Scarecrow and the Hell Riders when in costume.

Yep, I think so, it's doable, I only need to paint the Scarecrows forces and a few characters for it. We already have the sailors and redcoats and loads of civilians. It's basically an extension of the Dorset game. :)

Mind you James needs to build the church and a few more houses and shops ;) lol

For a commercial set of rules Donnybrook sounds ideal.
It's rules profiles cater for Pirates,Cultists,Outlaws,Militia,Civilian mob ,etc and it's chatacter profiles contain Preachers, cult leader, highwayman, first mate, witch finder etc and rules for Dread(fear)ungodly apparition, spy, corrupt magistrate etc
Everything I think you are looking for, just my twopenneth worth of course.Already looking forward to playing this at Blam  :D
Cheers

Hmmm, sounds ideal. Will consider. I am sure Dr De'Ath has it in his collection of rules tomes. :)
