Scale of Foundry vs. Crusader?
« on: January 15, 2009, 09:24:08 AM »
Hello all,

Can anyone on here tell me how Foundry WW2 Germans look with Crusader Miniatures WW2 Germans?

I have a small force of Foundry Germans and like them, but the range is lacking some of the more interesting bits that Crusader does. The minis all look similar in style and equipment, but I was wondering how they looked side by side and if they were compatible enough?

If anyone has any thought, info or side by side pics I would be grateful if you could let me know what you think.

Thanks

I use them toghether, but then I have a mix of Foundry, Artizan, BAM, BTD, Crusader and a few others, and if you have lots of variation you can get away with it. But if you just have Foundry and Crusader, you'll have small guys and big bulky ones, which might not work so well.

I find BAM and Foundry are close enough in size. Most of BAM are late war though, although there are some early war packs (like Foundry). The later Artizan releases are second best in terms of size (though again, they are late war).

I have a mix of Foundry, BAM, Artizan and a few others in my WWII stuff, while a few friends of mine have almost completely Crusader forces, they all look close enough in size to me.

WK is completely correct that the Foundry are on the slim side and a Crusader on the hulk side of 28mm.

To my eye, BAM make the best range of WWII Troops, while Artizan have the nicest Character models.

Here is an example of Foundry, Crusader and Black Tree FJ.  I think these all look fine together.

Hello all,

Thank you for the responses and DrunkenSamurai thank you for that very useful picture.

I think that will will mix OK, I think "chunkier" is easier to deal with than significant differences in height.

Now I have all the excuse I need to buy som more minis :)

Thank you all

I'll plug the comparison tool at Mainly 28s (http://mainly28s.com). It should answer the question for you!
