New 28 mm Australian Light Horse Range - Update
« on: January 17, 2009, 04:10:59 AM »
Hi Folks,

I just joined "The Rum Corps Tavern Forum" and to my suprise find out there is a new range of 28 mm Australian Light Horse being commissioned by Battlescape. This is an Aussie company and judging from the green this range is going to be complimentary to whatever you may have in your collection sofar! If you are starting out even better. Please give Matthew your support if you are interested.

Here is the link to the subject and on page four you will see the photo of the green. If you read the messages you will find the range of miniatures being commissioned.

Once again this is good news for WW1 fans and for folks interested in ANZACs.

Chow,

Helen

Any reason not to lift the picture and post it here?

Actually yes! Out of respect for the owner of the company. However, if you wish to show the photo here, then by all means.

Here is the list sofar:

1 x dismounted officer with revolver
1 x dismounted officer in commander type pose.
4 x Dismounted troopers in advance/at the ready poses
2 x Dismounted Troopers in NCO type poses
3 x mounted troopers
1 x mounted officer

Additional figures that would be nice to round it off (2nd round, depending on sales on the first):

1 x dismounted trooper with MG
1 x dismounted trooper MG No2
1 x dismounted trooper horse holder (trooper with rifle slung and hands free)
Vickers MG + Crew
Vickers MG packed on horse
2 x extra mounted troopers

I wondered how long it would take you to sniff out these, Helen. You are like a bloodhound for this type of thing.  ;)

I've been following this range on the quiet for some time, but didn't want to bring it up here until we'd seen some greens (for all I knew they might have been rubbish!).

I was going to tell you about them sooner or later, honest!  :)

Sweet!

It is unfortunate that shipping from Australia is so prohibitive or I'd be interested in that( and Castaway Arts NWF).

I only spotted the thread when I saw your name!

The green looks lovely an I'm sure the range will be a treat.

Thanks Dylan,

Hi Paul,

I believe the designer is working for 'Offensive miniatures' and looking at some of their miniatures these Aussies should look great.

I'm committing to buying some of these figures.  The green looks really good.

I would like to see a character figure of Harry Chauvel.  I would pay good money for that.

Cool!  I've been waiting for figures to do a proper Light Horse firing line.  Hope he'll do some standing and kneeling firing poses!

The is the latest news from Matthew at Battlescape:

"I also heard from the Light Horse sculptor and he is close to finishing the first (of 2 phases) phase of that project."

I'll see Matthew at Cancon on Saturday and will report back on our discussions.

Chow,

Helen

If the first releases go well then more figures will be added to the range.

If you visit the Rum Corps Tavern Forum you can keep up to date on what is happening with them: http://www.ozwargaming.com/

And if you join the forum, you can add your voice to suggested figure poses for the future.

Also, anyone wanting very basic information on the Light Horse for wargaming can visit this site and download some articles on the ALH: http://www.freewebs.com/shelldrake/index.htm
