[Hydra Miniatures] Atomic Tank--Tanks and Troops (July 15)
« on: June 26, 2016, 07:30:41 PM »
Hi Everyone:

We are pleased to announce that he design team at Hydra Miniatures is developing Atomic Tank, our third game set in the "Retroverse".  While War Rocket dealt with space combat and Retro Raygun was a story-based tactical battle game, Atomic Tank will deal with full-scale ground combat in the 23rd century.  Designed in 10mm scale, all of the current War Rocket/Retro Raygun forces will be represented on the tabletop. This render by digital sculptor Phil Beauchamp shows the Galacteer heavy atomic tank and a medium missile tank. The combination of ultra-fast jetpack infantry and heavy hitting power of their armored vehicles makes the Galacteers a formidable fighting force in Atomic Tank. No official release date has been planned, but Hydra game designer John Douma will be running events at Gen Con 2016. Stop by and see the action!

Ok, gotta admit - I'm hooked.  Got any of the 10mm troops previewable?

I do NOT need a new scale!

Awesome renders.

Waiting for actual pictures of real miniatures before looking for use of these for 6mm or 15mm gaming.

We are getting test castings molded for our Atomic Tank demo game at Gen Con.  I'll be posting painted samples over the next month. The infantry castings are looking amazing. It's going to be so cool to see all of the Retroverse factions with tanks, war walkers, and battle beasts.  Once we finish Galacteers and Robot Legion, we'll start work on the Imperials.

Very Nice!!!
Sadly if its not 15 or 6mm I'll probably skip them, I do not need another scale( unless they prove to be to awesomely cool in which case I'll cave in and buy them anyway 😂)

Cool to see another 10mm game in the work. I really like the scale.

I don't know anything about the war-rocket background, but I think the streamline-moderne (i.e. Googie or Raygun Gothic) style of these would go really well alongside the futuristic art-deco styled buildings that Dropzone Commander offers.

The staff of Hydra Miniatures is very busy preparing for our first public demo games of Atomic Tank at Gen Con 2016.  Here is a sample of some master castings That I just based up today.  The models are Galacteer (human space patrol types) standard infantry. The models were sculpted and printed by the awesomely talented Andrew Barlow of Dark-Platypus Studios. There are two variant poses that measure 12mm from feet to top of the head (10mm to the eyes). As you can see the detail is incredible and they almost look like 28mm models.  All troopers are based 3-4 to a base. Large robots, rocket sleds, huge creatures, and heroes will be based singly.  Tanks are not based.  I hope to be posting more photos in the coming weeks as we complete more models.

They look very nice!  8)

...I do have a comment though: please re-work the tracks so that they look like solid plates that are linked, rather then being made of thin flexible rubber! It's most noticeable around the drive wheels and return sprockets.

More photos of a Galacteer intervention force on the workbench. These are master models that will be used in our demo at Gen Con.
