Another western town - Tranquility
« on: July 15, 2016, 07:31:49 PM »
After the old town was swept away in a flood (OK, card buildings stored to close to a failed sump pump), it's finally time to begin rebuilding. This time the good citizens will use sturdier MDF, and keep it farther from the creek.

After mulling it over, the residents settled on the name Tranquility, for the peaceful nature of the surrounding environs. But, anticipating that the goings on in town will be anything but tranquil, the first building completed is the sheriff's office and jail.

The building materials were delivered via post from the good folks and Knuckleduster, manufactured by Tri-City Laser. Whatever a laser is. Hopefully more to come soon!

Apparently building a western town is thirsty work! So right after finishing the Sheriff's office and jail, the good people of Tranquility set to work on the saloon. Looks like the barkeep needs to restock his shelves, but the girls are ready to welcome the customers!

Like the Sheriff's office, this is from Tri-City Laser via Knuckleduster, and the approach was pretty much the same. A mix of craft paints, Testors and Vallejo brightened things up.

So how about a drink while we ponder what to build next?

So does anyone else worry about this kind of stuff? I have another building in the works that I painted a pale yellow with depot green trim. Then I decided I would make it a combined barber/doc/bathhouse. But I don't know if yellow and green work for that.

I know! First world problems! I couldn't care less what color my wife chooses to paint the kitchen, but pondering this occupies my time. :)

Eh, works fine.  Just have the blood stripe out front to indicate the barber.

Thanks, Elbows. The good citizens of Tranquility really need something better to worry about. Like a marauding group of bandits or something. Or Indians.

You're not the only one! My wife chooses all the colours when we decorate and I don't worry. But sometimes I spend ages worrying about my current project and the paints I am going to use!!!!!!  ;)

I'm not necessarily a rivet counter, but I do want things to look nice. :)

Anyway, while the town planning commission continues to debate on frontage colors allowed and signage ordinances, Wells Fargo decided the future of Tranquility is promising enough to locate a stage stop there. Since Wells Fargo has established brand guidelines related to corporate colors and such, paint was easy on this one!

However, it does remain a work in progress. An interior ticket counter and some passenger benches are needed. Also a freight storage area would be nice. And some place to house and feed the horses...
