Thanks! Personally I find it much quicker and easier to paint up 10mm units, than 28mm ones, so it doesn't feel that a lot of patience is needed.

Got 3 more units sorted, cleaned-up and sprayed this afternoon.

A unit of horse, another French grey clad matchlock unit, and a unit with 50% matchlocks, 50% improvised weapons, to represent some of the locally raised Irish units, these guys will be painted in mixed civilian clothes.

King James' Foot Guard

Got these chaps finished off and based over the weekend

They are quite vivid, but I quite like that!

Also flocked the bases of Regiment Meloniere

I've been working through the various units involved in the Battle of the Boyne, particularly the combat on the river, and have put together a bit of a spreadsheet, to work out whats what, and what I have and what I need. So a little (well not so little) order will be heading off to Pendraken towers soon. Which will include flags to allow these 4 units to be finished off.

Grat paint job.
You've make a great choice with this pendraken range. Probaly one of their greatest and certainly the most suitable of all manufaturers and miniatures size (6mm to 28mm) ever for this war. No one have catch the true style of uniforms, hats and curly haired like these mini. :D

Hope to see more soon.

Thanks.

They are great figures, real fun to paint.

More are on the way!

After spending some time reading the Osprey at the weekend, I'm kind of finally getting my head round the Battle of the Boyne and the key troops involved. So I now know what extras to purchase.

More work on Regiment Boisseleau the last couple of evenings, getting there now with facings and cross belts done. Next several browns for hair, apostles, and shoes.

As before the figures look great.  I do have a question on how big a unit is for the rule set you are using/planning to use? Are you basing for aesthetics or a certain figure ratio per unit?

I don't really go in for figure ratios, I will put fewer figures on for light troops / skirmishers. The rest is about what looks good. I am going for 3 bases for a unit, giving me 12cm frontage. This works for several sets of rule I'm looking at.

I'm not even sure if one unit is going to represent a regiment or a brigade. At the minute I am painting them as regiments to allow flags and facings to be choosen. But I am only currently painting 1 regiment for every 2 fielded, partly to speed up the process, but also to allow a higher degree of representation. I will then decide if I want to fill in the rest of the regiments.

While not bothering with a figure ratio, I am paying some attention to the size of regiments. For instance a lot of the Williamite cavalry regiments are very small, so I will be amagalamting some of them on table.

Baroque is the main option. But I've also looked at a few ECW sets including Victory without Quarter.
