Regiment Boisseleau

Got this unit finished (except flags, which are on order).

I'm pleased with how they have come together!

Did you replace the pikes with piano wire or something similar?

For this range the pikemen are open handed (unlike most of penrakens other figures). So the pikes are just straight pieces of wire. Pendraken sell these pre-cut, but you could cut your own, but the Pendraken ones are that cheap it seemed much easier just to buy them!

Reinforcements Arrive

Received a nice heavy box from Pendraken on Saturday morning

From left to right, more infantry, commanders, dragoons, artillery, and on the right pikemen, and cuirassiers - and flags at the top (obviously).

Managed to get the guns assembled, and them and the commanders sprayed this afternoon.

Jacobite Foot

Been working on these chaps for what seems like ages - irregular units always take much longer than uniformed ones

At the minute a generic Irish unit, with a low number of muskets, and no uniforms.

As well as these chaps, I have got a fair bit of artillery assembled, and sprayed, along with crews and lots of command figures.

Factory Painting ( as I call it) irregulars can be sped up by batching a few units together... I tend to paint a hundred figures at a time for this (28mm)

With 8 or 10 figures per strip, each strip gets painted the same and at the point of basing they are mixed and made not irregular units :)

If you are painting regular units, add a couple of figures to each unit batch and when you finish throw the spares into a spares pot for making into an irregular or forlorn hope base :)
Same can be done for combined grenadier units :) paint them with the unit and base up later

That's a great idea about adding an extra figure or two to the regular figures and saving them.

Yes, painting a couple of extras from regiments sounds a good idea.

Fortunately I only have 1 more irregular foot unit to do. And perhaps a cavalry one...

Had some time to add flags to the 5 regiments that I have painted and based:

We have left to right, Tyrconnel's horse, Earl of Antrim's, King James' Guards, Dutch Garde to Voet, and Meloniere's regiment.
The Earl of Antrim's was intended to be Regiment Boisseleau - but I don't have flags for them :(

Absolutely splendid, Fred. I am seriously tempted to break out my huge pile of 10mm Pendraken packs I had earmarked as pirates, and do this with them instead.  :-*

Very kind!

They are cracking little figures.

It would be great to see you paint some big battalions. Or some pirates, having seen the one you did a bit back.

Got the next regiment pretty much painted, this is an Irish one without official uniforms, and a bit short of firearms too
