So after a small break (well 18 months or so...) back to painting up some more of these great Pendraken LoA figures.

What has triggered this return to the project is that we have played several games of For Parliament and King, and have really enjoyed the games. While the rules are designed around the ECW, I've been using my LoA figures for the initial games, as they are at least pike and shotte figures, and I think the rules will work for this slightly later period.

I've been busy adding cavalry as I already had a reasonable amount of foot painted. The first additional troops, which I managed to get photographed this afternoon in some good natural light.

Jacobite Horse

I already had 3 stands of Tyrconnel's horse, so added another stand to give two units in FKaP, and painted up 2 more with red coats and yellow facings, and the two officers.

Thank you chaps.  They are very nice figures, but between the detail and the complex uniforms they do take a lot of painting

I have really enjoyed following your work as this is a  favorite period of mine, and I hope to start my armies in the near future. Very nice work, and you have to love the variety of colorful uniforms!

Thanks Terry. I expect you will be doing DBA armies, so will have a much more sensible number of figures compared to what I'm going for!

So after no updates in many many months, here is a second in a couple of days!  ;)

Here are a couple of units of Dragoons, these are based on 40x20mm bases, mainly so that the figures can be assembled into to different combinations to represent different types of units. So you can have just the 2 foot bases to represent a Forlorn Hope, you can have 2 foot and 2 mounted as dismounted Dragoons, putting the 2 foot and 1 mounted on a sabot base, leaving the other mounted stand as a marker for the horses. Or you can use all 4 mounted stands as a mounted unit.

These are painted as Clare's dragoons, part of the Jacobite army, buff coats, yellow facings.

The second unit in grey with white facings, represent Conyngham's.

And both together

Both still need flags adding.

Thanks, up next some artillery and commanders.

This may be stretching the definition of next somewhat, but its less than two years later...

Finally got a number of the artillery pieces pretty much done (basing left to do), and as pointed out on the Pendraken forum the wheels could do to be edged in black as they are likely to be metal shod.

Dutch and French guns

And the rather less complete English guns and crews

Lovely work Fred on your collection. Painting 10 mm is a real challenge for me.

All the best,

Helen

Thank you Helen. This is probably the army that is taking me the longest to paint. The LoA figures are lovely but they are so detailed.

Ive found with 10mm painting that it gets easier and quicker with more practice. The slowest bit for me is around colour choice, so I much prefer uniformed troops over irregulars.

Yes Fred, I reckon it would be easier over time  with practice.

Keep up the grand work.

All the best,

Helen
