Its a shame the old Steel Bonnets Yahoo group folded why didnt the chap pass it on to some one else?

I have no idea - I only found out when I was checking my groups one day - and found it missing!
I'd have been more than happy to moderate - as I'm sure you would have been

OK Steve I will set one up, upload the links rto manufacturers, put the rules I have into the files sectiona and then put it on TMP and see who wants to join, if nothing else it may get some interest as it was a good repository :)

Thanks for all suggestions so far.

It would be awesome if Vendel and Jim Bowen were compatible. So if anyone could please post some comparison pics (at least with a ruler, to get an idea of the actual size)?

Everything about the period sounds very interesting, nearly endless possibilites of small skirmishes in cold and dark scottish swamps :D
I was there the day that Horus fell.

Aargh! Buzgob, what are you doing to me??? I'll send you my little list tonight :)

I've just been reading thru the Hot Trod/Red Hand and they seem very easy to learn and streamlined.

Also just ordered the Steel Bonnets book. Does that contain any information on the different clans? So far I have been unable to locate any specific information  on that subject.

Although I did find a nice campaign prop:

Prop

Cheers

Remember this was the period of the reformation where the Catholic church was hounded out firstly by Henryt VIII and then by Elizabeth so plenty of Monastries and Abbeys were ruined.

The Abbeys I mean are scottish, they got destroyed by the british regardless of faith because they where the economical backbone of the Borders.

If you come for the king, you better not miss (Omar)

I too have some interest in gaming Border Reivers. I have some of the Vendels and have been meaning to get some of the Monolith figures as well.

I read the "Hot Trod and Red Hand" rules at Vendel's site but they kind of tapered out towards the end, making them (IMO) not fully playable. It felt like the authors got tired of writing the ruleset once they had the basic mechanics in place and started moving on to the scenarios and campaign system. A crying shame, as it looked promising at first.

I suppose that most of all, I'd like some Border Reivers rules in the form of a supplement for Gloire. Maybe some smallish supplement at 20-30 pages or so, possibly covering not just Border Reivers but all kinds of adventure in the shaggier parts of the Isles ("Where the men are men and the sheep are afraid" :P )
"When to keep awake against the camel's swaying or the junk's rocking, you start summoning up your memories one by one, your wolf will have become another wolf, your sister a different sister, your battle other battles, on your return from Euphemia, the city where memory is traded." - Italo Calvino
