After spending hours searching, browsing and debating allsorts of 10mm and 15mm stuff for something a little different to fire me up I came across the Newline Designs summer sale and went for some more 28mm Chinese. They arrived at lunchtime today.

Although they are medieval Yuan I intend painting them for use as late Sung and early Ming as well to maximise possibilities.

Don't be surprised if I am the first to fall by the way side doing this.

I have made a start with two firsts for me. Before these I had never used the airbrush on wargame figures and it is Foundry paint which I had never put through the brush before. Just the flesh base coat over an undercoat but it was very quick

Now the monotonous hand painting

I had a plan. A very simple plan. Block in the cloth, quick wash and highlight up, easy. Nice and quick and have all the native infantry done for the first update. But....

The lovely quick flesh coat with the airbrush has a completely different texture with so much key on it that washes are just muddying up the entire figure. After numerous attempts with mad dashes to the sink to swill them off I pretty much gave up until I saw todays posts and realized it was 1st August and I needed an update (and Bibbly had done his) so I did these this evening. First of what will be six stands of these, quickies which probably only took a little longer than they will last in battle

Having fallen behind and wanting to catch up and also wanting to move onto something different I have been going at these like an insane Danish chemist

. Managed the last nineteen tribesman in the last couple of evenings and finished the bases tonight.

I also did a javelinman as a test. I will change the colour scheme on the rest but I did think this chap was ideal as a bandit of the marshes.

Should have held some back for September but I have some time off work next week and a new deadline for motivation.
