Carthage and allies WIP
« on: July 25, 2016, 07:43:36 AM »
Inspired by Corso's posting and the funky helmets of Xyston- italiotes my invasion army took a leap forward this weekend. 15 mm Oscan javelinmen by Xyston.
Mainforce will be Forged in battle troops, but some of the allies come from different sources.
More stuff on the blogside: http://piikkimies.blogspot.fi/2016/07/wip-turks-and-ancients.html

Earlier I had finished some Numidians

And Caetrati:

I suppose it is fitting to get the skirmishers done first...

Looking really cool mate!

Glad to have been a source of inspiration :D

The Carthaginian army is very diverse and makes it really fun to collect. Keep posting your progress.........

Some potential allies - when the brutes are made to understand the might of Carthage and the Barcas.

Old glory Gauls without tunics mixed with naked Gauls and given a commander.

Lovely. All the shields really make this army pop.

Little big men studios transfers to thank for the finer details...
But yes, different shields give variation to the whole.
And we are talking of professionals hired by civilized, affluent maritime empire here.
Not some kind of militia from goatherders and highwaymen in central Italian hinterland.
:P Legions, shmegions... Just pure luck on the first encounter.

Long time since last update since I have been working mainly with 17th century armies, but something has been finished:

Unit of Gauls to annoy the Romans. Elite band since they wear coats of mail and even trousers.

Couple of games with Sword and Spear and now with ADLG. Finally some progress on troops of noble Barca.
Spaniard still in wip stage, waiting for grass.

I take it the "Dr Who" shields have had ancient Italian swastikas censored out? Alarming look!

Nice looking army. I am building a Carthaginian army myself. It's difficult to get tired painting it as you never paint the same models for long and if you favor one type of models you can almost always make them into an army of their own.

What sort of table is your coastline with the large amount of troops in it?

Thorakitai -

Hoplites

Iberian light cavalry

Iberian heavier troopers

Scutarii 1

Scutarii 2

All iberians so far

And whole Punic army so far:

Erik - sorry I missed the question. Deep cut studios I think, a friend did the ordering though so I am not quite sure - printed.
