Any suitable models/ideas for space livestock in 28mm
« on: July 27, 2016, 04:11:34 PM »
What's available model wise to populate the fields and farms of the far flung future?

Matakishi did some Leet models, but other than that I draw a blank. I have a couple of the original GW Ambulls. I also have the Seekers of Slaanesh, and the mounts look promising as herd animals, but they have integral saddles :(

The recent Space Truck thread brought back the idea of square pigs, and Imperial Assault does a Bantha (sadly with rider, and flipping expensive).

So, any ideas/models for livestock and alien beasties to have wandering around the table messing with the best laid plans, or simply as items to be stolen during a raid on a colony. I appreciate I could just say that the colonists took cows and sheep with them, but that seems boring.

Also the creatures from the World of Twilight game might be useful? (Lovely models too)

Ramshackle's Dunger are pretty fun herd beasties. I played in a game last year where a herd stampeded after escaping from a corral ;)

Tortuga (very large mutant turtle) and Mootant (Cow'ish thing) from the Wasteman game by Thunderchild miniatures both have really potential.  The Mootant does have a bunch of packs on him, but they're pretty cool figs.

I used a bunch of classic plastic cold ones from the 1st boxed set GW made for dark elf cold one knights (the ones that look like dinky obese godzillas) for a weird West game we used to play... we called them moo-gators

Use larger scale toy cows (like those Farm Toob things at Michaels, maybe) and call them Hyper-cattle.  Genetically engineered to grow much larger than regular cattle, because who doesn't want a 100 oz t-bone? :)

My usual suspects for weird wildlife would be various Clix type mini singles. Many beasties in the D&D line 4X tho they do tend to be a little ferocious-looking.

For smaller alien creatures there is the Khurasan Miniatures "Great Plain Klor" in the Arak section (bottom entry, with picture,) of Black Powder Sci-Fi Gaming.
