What does the Witchfinder suggest?

a gigantic cannon

You name it!
But I understand, this is quite boring for the ambitious spaceship-builder.

One could also use spaceships that were captured from aliens when they tried to invade the earth. You don't have to understand how something works to use it.  :)

"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

As I recall, the pods in the original book version of "War of the Worlds" were fired from a big gun on Mars.

Quite wise really, as if the invasion fails the angry, vengeful humans only have a bunch of spent rounds lying about, and not anything that can get back to Mars.

It's not strictly speaking Victorian (Ok, not even a little bit), and I guess some might consider it over the top, but somebody mentioned steam rockets ...

Put Zubrin in a stovepipe hat and he would make an excellent slightly unhinged genius of the Victorian age.

Spot of threadomancy, but couldn't resist a bit of publicity for the Tsiolkovsky drive, the solution to all our VSF space propulsion problems: http://pauljamesog.blogspot.com/2007/10/krazniy-oktyabr.html

Tsiolkovsky was the father of space exploration; and my VSF Tsiolkovsky was his grandaddy.

So you're connected with the White Wine Sauce blog? Cool. I like that blog, because it said nice things about my blog.

Well, not just that, honest. I do think it's a great site.

Not quite - Tas is my publicist for VSF-related stuff, and has been awarded sole rights to publish images of my diverse - ah - creations. Which is why most of my VSF stuff will be seen immersed in White Wine Sauce  :P

Pretty hard not to say great things about gamers who love Biggles, wear silly hats, adorn huge moustaches and use fog machines in their gaming!White Wine Sauce salutes fellow silly buggers!

And yes, WWS has been honoured with exclusive right to show the many wonderous works of Mssr Vanvlak.  Which is fortunate because he is more productive than me by a factor of 5!
