Seagrave

Dave Valentine, Michael Joseph Johns, Will and I tried out some Frostgrave inspired Pirate Rules writen by Dave..  They need a little work but should make a fun convention game.  Three ships are sailing in as treasure is piled high on the docks in anticipation of the kings treasure fleet it will be a busy day in Tortuga harbor. http://fencingfrog.blogspot.com/2016/09/busy-day-at-tortuga-harbor.html

I'll post more about the rules at a latter day after they have been refined abit.

I thought I would put some life back into this thread instead of starting a new one....

Anyone out there fins a good source for cogs and dhows? I picked up a Blood and Plunder ship... I am loath to convert it as I can use it for Blood and Plunder and my pirate games.... I plan to buy more of their line, but I really want more appropriate ships for Ghost Archipelago.....

What have you guys been doing? did I miss a thread somewhere?

There's card models from a company called Russian Traditions that make both types of ships:

http://russia-best.com/product/arabic-dhow-card-model-kit/

http://russia-best.com/product/hanseatic-cog-card-model-kit/

They also have a caravel, galleon, junk, and galley.

They are probably closer to true 25 mm or a bit smaller in scale but I've used them for 28mm without too much trouble.

Here's a picture from a game I just ran at Cold Wars, coincidentally using Frostgrave in an Elizabethan setting

Wow! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!

The Caravel too!

How do they hold up through use? Heck, the price is certainly right. I wish I had seen your game at CW! I would have asked you then... I saw it and thought it would be cool, but I had to work.... most of the time.

thxs!

The models are pretty sturdy cardboard - I've used them quite a bit in other games without too much of a problem.  They slot together pretty tightly so I rarely glue them, usually  only use glue if the fit of a particular slot is loose.

I'll be running this game again at Historicon, probably on Saturday afternoon of the convention.  I also have several ideas for other games in this setting - I think Frostgrave/Ghost Archipelago fits very well into it.

Well, I am glad I put you in a good spot/table then! Looks great. I will do something similar for Hcon too.

What rules would you use for Fantasy Ship to Ship combat?
