Nemo's Nautilus (Or Airship) Crew Landing Party For 15mm?
« on: September 08, 2016, 08:27:42 PM »
I was leaning towards the Rebel Minis crew at first:

But, seeing as the literary Captain Nemo (Prince Dakkar) was likely to show some of his Indian heritage in the design of his crew's uniform ... has anyone ever considered these Crimean War French Zouaves for a Nautilus landing party?

Or even these?

Would those have the appropriate mix of East/West features you'd expect in their uniforms?

Or would you suggest something from British colonial wars instead?

PS.  Wasn't there a Vincent Price film with a Nemo-like captain of an airship too?

Thanks for the suggestion. Both look great, and I think the Blue Moon models could work fine!

In this picture Nemo looks much like Verne's literary captain:

That comic is pure awesome and makes me wish more people would do 15mm steampunk characters. They are usually the most difficult to get right.

By the way, I also found the same Eureka 18mm Crimean War Zouaves on their USA website:

http://eurekaminusa.com/collections/crimean-war-18mm-1/products/300cmw117
http://eurekaminusa.com/collections/crimean-war-18mm-1/products/300cmw118

At 18mm, they should probably be a better match with Blue Moon's, right?

Thanks,

Dan

The movie that you are referring to with Vincent Price is Master of The World.

These armored guys really look like they could be useful for something Nemo-esque:

I wonder if anyone is planning to put them back in production.  Anyone know?

All Quiet on the Martian Front has been bought by another company and is already selling some miniatures. Most likely remaining stock first to later re-release the other models. Think they announced it here on laf.

Master of the World?  Excellent, I'll check it out.  Thanks.

By the way, I think I found the armored troops on the new website for All Quiet On The Martian Front:

http://quietmartianfront.com/product/armoured-infantry-squad-15-figs/

I think they look perfect as armed Victorian astronauts.

These guys from Rebel Minis are also on my radar:

Check it out.  I found a comparison picture of both those sets (Rebel Minis on the left and AQMF on right):
