JoeRugby - Hobby Shenanigans

Welcome

Thanks for checking out my thread.

This is the Sister thread to my “showcase” thread the “A Diary of an inquisitor” which you can find here…

http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=93267.0

While there will be items on here from a variety of sci-fi manufactures, all are tied into the same head cannon that ill go into more detail in the showcase thread.

I like to have all my ski fi collection cross over into my 40k head cannon
e.g the Mantic warpath verse is a number of sectors south of the Segmentum Tempestus and west of the ultima segmentum founded by rouge traders.
There are Remnant fleets of Xenos (and sometimes human races) that were evicted from their planets by the Imperium during the great crusade.
Predators are still hunting anything they can, they love Catachan and hunting space marines.
Every now and again a strange man in a blue box shows up goes “nope” and leaves again.

Here will have Work in progress images and some discussion on any rules I’m working on to incorporate the various minis into other game systems so they can cross over. (I should have a Deadzone - Xenomorph ruleset done at some point).

I find i’m more productive/focused when i do a thread like this.

Hobby Budget
Hobby budget of max £100 per month but ideally less than £50, As an incentive to spend as little as possible I'm going to put anything under £50 I spend into a piggy bank and save up for a Warhound Titan. (Wanted one for ages)

I'm also going to try and fund a bit of my hobby through EBay and here (selling terrain if people will buy it and things I'm not going to use), if eBay income makes up any of the £50 target spend I'll count it as half towards the budget total. (Another incentive to selling stuff) e.g. if i spend 50 but all came from money i made from selling stuff on eBay i’ll only count as £25 towards the £50 target.

But thats a lot of Reading heres some pics of things I am working on…

Albion Rifles imperial guard

UK (mostly WW2) inspired imperial Guard.

Got quite a few tanks to finish but I'm waiting on an airbrush purchase (got the cash saved just need to get one) before i do it.

Deadzone Enforcers

I-pad armour on the standard enforcers with the special characters in colourful armour (like spartans in Halo)

Deadzone rebs

Tried to get them looking as individual as possible, so their a rag tag group. (think serenity and star wars rebels)

Xenomorphs

This is all the Xenos i have, despite the poor effort by Prodos with the treatment of me as a backer the minis are fantastic.

Infinity PanO

Ultramarines

lots to do and add, for a start i need to finish my hellion conversion nd get another sniper scout made.

Their true scale btw (or close enough to make me happy anyway)

Thanks again for checking my thread out.

Please drop a comment if you like what you see or have any feedback, I really appreciate it and it helps keep be motivated.

Hobby haul for August

Hasslefree mystic panda
infinity Achilles
Zing Vents
Bloodletters
MDF scenery
micron pen

£47 Spent but all but the Micron pen paid for by funds earned by selling stuff on eBay.

So £25 goes into the Warhound bank
£40 saved so far ,11.42% there, (saved 15 las month)

August finished bits

Not done any of the things I'd planned for August but really pleased to have finished my Operation icestorm PanO.

Nice work dude ! That's an impressively diverse menagerie. I like your policy on sci fi that fits into/works with 40K.

That's a lot of goodness there. Especially like how the Pan O knight looks all in metal armour.

thanks both :)

MDF stairs

In the above hobby haul i picked up these MDF kits.

I really like them but they are designed to be built for Necromunda style scenery so theres no top shelf (to allow you to slide the cardboard/MDF floors in)

As a solution I made a step using some spare stairs and MDF “sprue”

Much better

And here it is painted and ready for a game of deadzone this evening.

Blainetober
Found my Blaines for “Blaintober”

Thought i had a Blaine from deadzone too but i don't will try to pick one up on eBay before October

Thanks for Looking :)

Really great stuff and quite diverse. A couple of quesitons.

1) Where are the stairs from?  I' generally not a fan of lasercut mdf, but for stairs, they're ace!

2) What figs did you use for the IG Stormtroopers.

Keep up the good work!

Well September and October have been a hobby fail (real life has just been silly busy and i haven't even gone back to rugby yet)

Got only two minis and 2 sets of stairs finished in September

Showed the yellow stairs before, green are similar but with green bits instead of yellow.

Mars attacks Heroes

Not happy with the eyes on either of them, details were pretty soft on these minis and ill be honest lost patience with the faces.

and nothing finished in October :(

years total is up to 86 minis finished, want to get to at least 100 done this year.

Hobby Spend

September was pretty good only spent £30 so £20 into the Titan fund.

bringing the total to £60…….

October the whole of the max budget was spent on the star saga kickstarter

And this months max hobby budget has been spent on the battle systems kickstarter already so ill likely go over budget this month :(

Hoping to have my other blaine’s finished shortly. well hoping to actually get some decent time painting and lobbying but finishing the blaine is top priority.

Mars Attacks Blaine

Probably one of the best detailed minis to come out of the mars Attacks kickstarter.

happy with how he came out.

Deadzone Jetbike Blaine

This mini benefits from the new PVC used in the last kickstarter.

and he’s pretty bloody nice, nice detail, cool bike and and awesome coat :)

put a bit of weathering on it as Blaine docent strike me as the type of person to keep his kit in pristine condition (just look at his coat)

Very, very happy with how this came out. been quite subtle (for me at any rate) with the highlights and resisted the urge to make the bike goo busy with freehand.

Thanks for looking

November hobby

Only got my Blaines finished last month this month

Some slightly better individual pics

November spend
Um....well....yeah....

Went massively over budget.
Battlesystems kickstarter
The raging Heroes necropriestess
Dreamforge - Eisenkern accessory set
GW - Eldrad
GW - Death jester
GW- Harlequins
Chieftain green spray paint

So yeah.....nothing to the Titan fund from November.

Pledging to spend nothing this month so I can put e full £50 into the Titan fund. (Need to photoshop a Titan fund savings graphic)

This week WIP
Nothing finished this week but a few things have moved forward.

If i get these finished this month that will put me at 99 minis

Colony 87 Astropath

Finished another Colony 87 mini, that leaves 2 to have the second set finished off and puts me at 90 minis finished this year.

Painted the eyes to look closed but red and sore, as she docent have eyes as an Astropath :)
Close up on the head sockets

Really enjoy painting these guys, and I'm really happy with how she came out

Space Dwarves from Space!!!

Minis #91-95 finished this year

Mantic Games - Forge father Steel Warriors

I've said before but i really like these minis even with the flaws in the torsos.

The blue shoulder pad is a throwback to the old official Forge father paint scheme and eventually i might get some dwarf decals on there as a army badge etc.

Close up on the auto-gunner and leader

Size comparison to an imperial guard mini

got 20 more from the deadzone infestation kickstarter to paint up, but ill wait till I've looked into the warpath firefight rules before building and painting the rest.

Was thinking of painting up some steel warriors specifically for use with the Brokkrs in Deadzone but give them slayer style heads, any of you guys able to pint me in the direction of some dwarf heads with mohawks etc?
